Emotional Donald Trump supporter explains that his family wont be insured if Obamacare goes away

"An emotional Donald Trump supporter on Tuesday told CNN’s Don Lemon he wouldn’t be able to afford health insurance if it weren’t for Obamacare, the signature legislation the president has promised to repeal.

Lemon also spoke with pastor and veteran Janice Hill, whose daughter would have died without the Affordable Care Act.

“You’re a life long republican, yet you and your wife are insured through Obamacare,” Lemon said to guest Don Riscoe. “What will happen to that insurance if Obamacare is repealed?”

“We probably won’t be insured,” a visibly upset Riscoe replied.

“You okay?” Lemon asked.

“Yes,” he said. “We won’t be insured if Obamacare goes away. We won’t be able to afford premiums.”

“I know we can’t afford $1,000 a month,” he continued. “I don’t know the exact number but … we wouldn’t be able to afford coverage without the infrastructure.”

Riscoe said Obamacare “does have problems” that need to get fixed. “I hope that there’s something that will be in place that we can still have coverage for myself and a lot of others,” Riscoe said.

Pastor Hill told Lemon the bill’s plan to slash funding for Medicaid is really what’s going to hurt.

“When they take away Medicaid, it’s not only going to hurt my daughter who is not on Medicaid now because she’s working full time, but it’s going to hurt the people in my state. It’s going to hurt veterans, which i’m a veteran. Ten percent of veterans are on medicaid.”

“It’s going to hurt the employment rate,” she continued. “It’s going to hurt people’s access to health coverage. They’re not going to go for any kind of preventive care. It’s going to be critical when they do go. It’s going to cost more money. This bill doesn’t make sense.”

Tue Jun 27, 2017, 10:45 AM
Jun 2017

Okay, bright guy, what problems?

Do you have healthcare under Obamacare? Check
Can you afford the premiums? Check
No lifetime maximum? Check
No exclusion for pre-existing conditions? Check
Medicaid coverage where states allow it? Check

So, again, bright guy, what problems need to be fixed. Think of this as a school essay question. Give specific, fact-based examples, not talking points from Fox.

Now, under the deathcare act, will you have healthcare? Nope.
Will you be able to afford the premiums. Nope.
Lifetime max? Yep.
Pre-existing conditions? Too bad.
Medicaid? Yeah, right.

Sorry, bright guy, you own this. And, sadly, millions more of you fellow Americans - Democrats, Republicans, Christians, Jews, Black, White - will be in the same situation.

+1

This whole, "Obamacare has problems" narrative has even been pushed by most libs. The narrative should have always been, Obamacare isn't perfect, but it's still fantastic. It's a remarkable law that has helped millions. It was never advertised properly, people are using Obamacare and they don't even know it. They use it when they get preventative treatment, they use it when they switch jobs and can get insurance at their new job with a preexisting condition. They use it whenever a serious illness occurs and there is no max on the care the receive. Most people in America have used Obamacare even if they didn't buy their insurance from the exchanges.

And the Reps have zero clues as to how to replace it with anything that won't kill thousands of citizens and bankrupt millions.

pretty goddamned good! Sure saves a lot of lives, reduces fears, etc.

Just a few tweaks since it was passed would have ensured its improvements, but the Republicans have refused to allow the basic improvements that every major bill has required. And the Republicans have been protected by a mainstream press that is lying about the responsibility for the current health care problems.

Ruscoe took health care for granted. Between him and his wife, at least one of them had a job with health care benefits. He was one of those who thought he would always be covered - until he wasn't.

Then, he struck out on his own and, sometime later, his wife lost her job. They went on COBRA until that benefit ran out, leaving them screwed without tattoos! Ruscoe was 'bigly' overweight and couldn't find a policy to cover him "at any price." He and his wife got catastrophic coverage for $200 a month that came with a whopping $25,000 deductible they also couldn't afford, so; i.e., avoid going to doctors!

And then came Obamacare. He took advantage of it the minute he could, and - immense relief. All was good.

And then he voted for Trump.

As others have said; "Empathy, but no sympathy."

empathy and sympathy for him and his family. For being so fucking hateful and stupid that they voted to cut their lifeline in exchange for cement shoes. I hope he enjoys the shit show coming his way.

EPA defunded and deregulated so companies are free dump their toxic waste where they want. When people get sick from it, the legal system is stacked against them with conservative judges and tort reform to limit settlements. Then to top it off no access to insurance to negate the cost of getting sick. Hospitals going under because they can't afford to treat all the people for free. So he and his family will go bankrupt and broke trying to save the life of their loved one, who dies anyhow. Then they come down with the same ailment and no money left for treatment. Die a slow and agonizing death.

Instead they could have voted for the woman with solid plans and experience to make their loves better. But she is a Democrat. So they believed all the lies spewed about her over the decades and couldn't vote for her. Instead voted for the man who spewed nothing but lies. They were told over and over about his volatile personality and how he screwed people out of their money. Verifiable fact. They heard the vulgar names he called women and minorities, straight from his own mouth. He justified and normalized his sexual assaults..that trump admitted to.

Tue Jun 27, 2017, 11:32 AM
Jun 2017

everything but a few of our clothes, bought a RV, and traveled the USA for 8 years. Our doctor for 15 years did not come with us. We had no problem finding good doctors. Our main sources for recommendations were: a) the ER physicians, and b) our health insurance info booklet. We never got a dud for personal care physicians in 8 years. About every 3 months, we moved 300 to 500 miles and got new physicians as needed. What we learned was that ERs usually are not crowded 8-4, M-F. I got ER service in East Texas on a Monday at 9am. They were so happy to see me for an insect bite because I'm not a redneck and I did not have a redneck weekend wound (cut with a beer bottle, stabbed, shot, or sliced with a chainsaw). Those customers arrive Friday evening through late Sunday night. Monday morning for that rural county hospital is quite. And, they like customers who can pay. That was like getting a new review on all of the previous services. Each physician we saw in our travels added value to my treatment for diabetes and my wife's treatment for arthritis. My advice: be flexible about getting new doctors -- it will likely improve your health. We have given up our nomadic life and get our health care from a university medical center. About every 2 years, our primary care physician changes (promotions and new opportunities) and we get a new one. It's great. A fresh look all over.
