We rely on the hope that, in the end, GOP voters will wake up and see what is happening

Surely, we say to ourselves, even the dummies who vote for the GOP will see that they are being threatened, impoverished, swindled, sickened, poisoned, and killed by the Republicans and the elite they serve. It's our only hope. But what does the Democratic party do to wake people up? Our population needs drastic re-education, awakening, and truth telling. Instead they see people treating Fox as if it is just another news outlet. They read articles pointing out that "both sides do it". They are trained openly to hate the people who could actually help them, and to worship their own killers.

That people could, in the future, actually tell who is hurting them remains one of our last hopes. And it isn't looking good.

Russian influence, homegrown electronic and cyber results manipulation, stupidity and God knows what else, you are assuming that, going forward, our votes and election results actually matter and won't be rigged/tilted. I have serious doubts about the validity of our future elections.

It would help if the populace were aware enough that future election results which are completely askew cause us to throw out the electronic machines.

I wish the Democratic party would get behind that movement. What could their opponents say? They don't want non-hackable votes and vote counts?

If the repubs were afraid of the next election there is no way they would be going full speed ahead like they are. They know they control the next election through the things you mentioned. As the great mind Alfred E. Newman has said "What. Me worry? This is the new repub motto.

to someone who gets alternative facts news every day.

The reps are shameless. Lying is second nature to them. Look at how they're handling the collusion deal. They've reframed it from never happened to it's not illegal. Trump on the offensive blaming Dems about being obstructionists when the traitors control everything.

I lost my insurance Billy Bob!
Well, Trump tried but the Pelosi liberals blocked him all the way.

The reps have been working on gerrymandering, controlling state legislatures, governorships, voter suppression in all forms, ways to pour more money into local and national races (citizens united) and propaganda for years. It's an uphill battle made harder by ineffective (lacking?) dem leadership. Berniecrats, Hillarycrats, Obamacrats.

I once thought the tea party was going to split the rep party. Didn't happen.

and I do wonder why you're pushing this line.

PEOPLE BELIEVE WHAT THEY WANT TO. Conservatives believe Republican lies because they want to. Contradictory information and sources are rejected without consideration because they KNOW they're all lies. That is a basic frame through which all input is filtered.

I used to believe that if we teach children to think they would think as adults. I now know that personality trumps education and that many people happily and as soon as possible abandon thinking in favor of reacting according to the dictates of their personalities and those of the group they identify with.

Btw, did you know that conservatives and liberals process information in different orders? Liberals send it for cognitive analysis, and then based on that, send it on for emotional reaction.

Conservatives send it for emotional reaction FIRST (!), then on for cognitive analysis (when they bother). Analysis, when it does occur, includes running it past their store of information, which for most these days is stuffed with Fox-type lies.

Their choice. And we don't do "re-education" here.

this is research that comes from Jonathan Haidt and others. It's just that liberals have a different set of emotional rulers that they react with than do conservatives (or I should say a subset).

The Democratic party could get a lot of support just by being stronger in its convictions and framing. They would be both right and strong, and they would do very well indeed.

total waste of keystrokes. Scientists can literally watch the brain at work these days, and your wishes are wrong.

But again, I object to bringing common anti-Democratic Party memes on a forum meant to support the Democratic Party.

We are the one party that is still committed to protecting our constitution and working for the rights and wellbeing of all Americans.
