Adopt - a - Deplorable Program

Sure, you could adopt a rescue pet and save a life or you could adopt a highway and keep it free of trash, and both would be a better use of your time.

But since Deplorables are hopelessly brainwashed and without the ability to take personal responsibility for how they think and how they vote, I am introducing the Adopt-a-Deplorable program.

Sign up now and you will receive the handy anti-Deplorable behavior pack.

You will receive aids to help your recovering Deplorable reduce their bad habits.

You must turn off their flow of misinformation and false news. So begin your struggle for a truly great America by preventing access to the following -

This list is not all-inclusive. Feel free to add other sources of bullshit to avoid. You'll get to know your Deplorable and what disinformation they prefer. So you'll know what to avoid for your Deplorable. Do not overwhelm your Deplorable. Slowly add Stephen Colbert and The Daily Show, and read them stories from reputable news sources as a bedtime treat. Work them up to reading on their own. Remember - quality time spent with your Deplorable is best.

Your pack will include:

Adaptil Happy Home Spray

When your Deplorable gets stressed from going without their Alex Jones, Breitbart, and Fox News fix - a few gentle sprays while using soothing words can reduce the anxiety your Deplorable is experiencing. Be sure to spray directly in the face of your Deplorable.

A Washington Times newspaper.

From time to time your Deplorable will need an abrupt shock to their system, so swat them gently across the nose with the included Washington Times. Be sure to let them know it's the WT. This is to train them to avoid the WT. Aversion therapy, of sorts.

If they should slip and begin to think this is presidential, swat as needed.

You should avoid the internet during the initial period with your Deplorable. We include a handy spray for when you catch your Deplorable attempting to access false news, supposedly recent dead celebrities that have been dead for years, and other disinformation on vaccines, evolution, climate change, how government works, and lies about how government is taking their guns. (For example - remember! You know your Deplorable best)

So if you see your Deplorable here, trying to explain to the world why giving their money to the wealthy just makes sound fiscal sense and how Sharia Law is taking over America...

Spray them and the object of their desire with this...

You'll get books by Howard Zinn, Toni Morrison, and Tim Wise, as well as other authors. Please feel free to add to your reading list. Remember to explain as you read with recent real world examples. Ask open-ended questions and encourage questions from your Deplorable. Keep your newspaper and sprays handy during this time.

Decorate your Deplorable's room with Rainbows! Subtle and not-so-subtle framing throughout your home can aid in your Deplorable's recovery. A rainbow blanket is included in your pack.

Also, posters are included to create the new mood for a new attitude.

A brand new hat to replace the deplorable MAGA hats!

For when the newspaper isn't enough.

Remember - your Deplorable is not your pet - even if certain behavioral adjustments are the same. You will have to set your Deplorable free once habituated to live among decent people.

You could help help 3 Deplorables for around $35.00. But, really, you'll be helping far more people in the long run.

You can get the one kit and use it for several, but you may face a revolt once the spray runs out and the newspaper starts to tear.

It could get ugly.

Equality =/= implying people be treated and trained like dogs.

Yes they're wrong, racist, and even stupid. But this is fucked up.

And it doesn't bring me any joy to think of fellow Americans this way.

Yep, they do it to us, I know. But I ain't them. We're bigger than that. Bigger than this.

I know you put a lot of effort into this OP but, think about it.

Sadly, I await the disapproval of my opinion.

But I'm not looking to change your opinion or attack you for it either.

I deal with their hate through humor. I am aware they aren't dogs. My dogs would never vote republican. (that was more humor, btw)

But they threaten to kill us, rape us, and strip us of our rights. So instead of responding in kind - and I am not responding in kind - I respond with humor.

Now, if I really thought they were dogs, believe me, you'd know it. Everyone would know it. I adore dogs.

This reminds me of a conversation about the opioid problem I keep having. People are correct when they say white youth are being shown more compassion than was shown to black people when crack was the drug issue. I think we should also not forget the way people from rural areas were demonized over meth. The responses to each of those reflected white supremacy when people of color were locked up in massive numbers and policy makers put stricter regulations on sudafed to try to protect white people from themselves. But, the targeting and oppressive attitudes were very similar.

The sources of the disregard and devaluation of those different targets are not comparable. But in the end, they are assumptions claiming superiority that reveal bigotry. They are damaging not only to the target, but to credibility due to the extreme hypocrisy of posing as morally superior and opposed to oppression while participating in targeted bias based largely on stereotypes.

Satire is a genre of humor easily missed as it includes the complexity of juxtaposition and exaggeration which are easily ignored if one lacks perspective.

Many people also misunderstood Swift’s purpose in A Modest Proposal, assuming it to be a serious recommendation of cannibalism (he suggested the impoverished Irish might ease their economic troubles by selling their children as food for rich gentlemen and ladies-- and many dull wits took it literally)

So I doubt there is disposal of your opinion, merely regret you missed the original premise.

Uh, no, muthafu*ka. It's not time for you to go home and pass the problem to someone else tomorrow.

My husband had the same problem with his business line coming in to the house. Got it fixed. (Did he bother to ask about
house line? No. But that's a different department, anyway, right, for a residence?) So he goes out to talk to the guy. Guy says
he needs another truck. Drives off.

I told my husband we won't see this guy again today.

Total meltdown. I am SO sick of people who don't want to do the job and work for a corporate culture that encourages it. Maybe they could
send a fu*king robot?!?

My throat is sore from yelling.

Husband just said the guy is back with the different truck.

The same company that was putting in a window unit upstairs - it's that hot - does the main AC. So they looked at it and said they needed a part. Drove away and never came back. We had to call repeatedly to get them to come back out.

It was close to quitting time with the first group. The man who came back out replaced the part in 10 minutes. That's all it took - 10 minutes. A part, the man claimed, they keep on the trucks at all times.

My husband came in and told me the guy thinks he has it fixed (45 minutes later) and has gone off to the "center" to reconnect
the line and phone me as a test.

Now it works!

Funny how the problem wasn't in the house, huh? I bit my tongue to not say it to the guy.

before they will listen to anything we have to say.

They will have to turn off the disinformation on their own and research the facts for themselves.

A long time ago, someone said - you can lead a man to knowledge but you can't make him think.

Sadly, some have to learn the hard way. Like those just now realizing they will lose their needed health care even though people tried to tell them before the election.

And it is sad - but it is so frustrating that it takes them getting hurt themselves before they'll listen. Because that means that they didn't care when they thought it would only hurt others. That's the thinking that needs to be changed. That as long as it doesn't affect you, then it's OK. We can't allow anyone to be hurt by bad law and policies.

Tue Jun 27, 2017, 03:44 PM

... who were all judged difficult by animal shelters.

Two of our dogs were on death row. They are good dogs now, but they were not when we took them home. It took some work to civilize them.

One dog was terrified of abusive men wearing caps. (A strange man wearing a red MAGA would still terrify her.)

One dog had been kept chained up in a front yard and worn down his teeth chewing on his chain. (It's illegal to keep a dog like that here, that's how he ended up at the shelter.)

One dog had been feral, an escapee of a less reputable dog breeder, a chicken thief suspicious of humans, coyotes, and over-the-top PTSD about guns and air guns.

One dog was a pig hunter with no pigs to hunt when her owner had to move to the city. (She hunts rats now, and keeps my feet warm at night.)

Sadly, deplorables are more difficult. It's like playing chess with pigeons. They shit all over the board, knock over all the pieces, and insist they've won.

But bloody hell, a few of them have landed on my doorstep. Best you can do is nurse 'em back to health and hope they don't hurt you too badly when you set them free.

I was releasing some steam after reading the republican, I forget which one, claim that people didn't understand capitalism (too stupid, I guess) or we would know that Trump-care would work due to trickle-down.

Then Ryan talking about how people wouldn't be dropped from insurance, but instead they would simply choose not pay for it. Never mind they can't afford to pay for it, but what do I know?

Then the mother in WV whose daughter overdosed and wants funding for medicaid and needed rehabs to remain, but who still believes in and supports Trump - and just wants him to listen to the needs of poor people. And her story wasn't the first of its kind that I've read over the last few days.

I was ready to explode. Because no matter how much compassion you can have for people, it can be so frustrating when they insist on propping up their own oppression. And not just theirs either.

So, I opted for humor.

I know I offended some people and that wasn't my intent.

they tend to accept those facts better.

"Mother Goose and the Mercurial Climate" is always a good choice.

And true. Maybe that's the only way we'll be able to cut through the shit of decades of corporate propaganda. Saving one person at a time.

Just like the Salvation Army.
