Sen. Bill Cassidy (LA) responded to my email

He sent to me what looks like a form letter. Good letter. Well written, respectful, not arrogant.

It refers to the bill as a "working draft health care bill." Then refers to needing to get a CBO score, which may indicate the letter was written before the recent CBO score came out.

He said he is studying the bill and will see what's in it, going forward, and believes:

"Finding solutions that allow healthcare providers to deliver quality, affordable care to their patients is one of my primary goals in Congress."

and

"provide an alternative to the government-run system set in place by President Obama."

and

" any health care bill should continue adequate coverage for people, protect those with preexisting conditions, have fewer mandates, and lower premiums; the measures by which any bill must be assessed before being voted upon. "

In the end, it's vague political talk. What is "adequate coverage for people"? Could be anything. What does he call "protecting those with preexisting conditions"? I wouldn't say that throwing it to the states to let them decide is "protecting those with preexisting conditions." And there's no way for sure to know whether any bill would "lower premiums." I do not believe the current GOP bill will lower premiums at all. Cassidy even spoke on tv about some Medicaid people being able to be put on private insurance. If that happens (and God knows how he thinks that someone with $10 expendable income per month can buy insurance), but if that happens, that is likely to INCREASE premiums, since those on Medicaid are known to be sickly and turn in high claims.

I don't have an email address for the other senator. He's a newbie, just elected. I found a phone number, so will have to call him. He's DARK RED, and new to the Senate, so is likely to do what the leadership tells him to do.

Instead of taking the ACA and trying to make it better, they want to throw the baby out with the bath water, and provide tax breaks for those who don't need it
