http://www.esquire.com/news-politics/politics/news/a55930/sarah-huckabee-sanders-press-conference/...But the real moment came when some guy from Breitbart asked Sarah Huckabee Sanders about the recent dust-up between the White House and CNN, and the ensuing firings at the latter, and this is what the official White House spokesperson said in reply:
"I think it's the constant barrage of fake news directed at this president that has garnered a lot of his frustration. You point to that report. There are multiple other instances where that outlet that you referenced has been repeatedly wrong and has been had to point that out or be corrected. There's a video circulating now, whether it's accurate or not, I don't know, but I would encourage everybody in this room and, frankly, everybody across the country, to take a look at it. I think if it is accurate, I think it's a disgrace to all of media, to all of journalism. I think that we have gone to a place where, if the media can't be trusted to report the news, then that's a dangerous place for America. I think if that's the place that certain outlets are going, particularly for the purposes of spiking ratings, I think that's even more scary, and certainly more disgraceful."
In case you missed it, the White House just declared war on CNN. (Odd, because, if it weren't for executives seeking to spike ratings, Donald Trump would be back haunting dressing rooms at the Miss Universe pageant and Sarah Huckabee Sanders would be on the 700 Club, hawking Jesus by the pound.) Moreover, it did so by having the White House officially endorse James O'Keefe's latest preposterous ratfcking project. What's next? Sarah Huckabee Sanders beginning the next briefing with, "But first, a word about Alex Jones and his magical brain pills"?
It's CNN's obligation to fight back on this, hard. Time to cut loose Jeffrey Lord. Time for Jeff Zucker to stop worrying about what the president* and the White House think of him. Time for the network to be as cutthroat as the administration that is trying to destroy it.

(2,404 posts)Newsweek is running a story right now about how CNN is "getting nervous" about running any story that implies Trump has Russia connections and future stories will be tightly controlled. They have to be approved by the top execs.
This could not come at a worse time. Trump sees the retraction as all the ammo he and his minionazis need to declare CNN fake news and discredit them entirely.
We are rapidly becoming an authoritarian state.

(2,404 posts)because I realize how defeatist it sounds, but I was just venting frustration at the feeling that too many in the press are not pushing back as hard and fast as they should.
Some are, but not enough. I'm worried that too many people, in the press and the country, are underestimating the authoritation intentions of this regime.

(14,565 posts)I've seen anti-CNN threads on every sports message board today. They've been in supply for months but today it reached new volume and intensity. Those sports forums are dominated by angry white males, as I've mentioned.

(4,450 posts)If I want to listen to a Milwaukee Brewers game, for example, I have to tune into the same network that airs Rush Limbaugh and Hannity. It drives me nuts.

(14,565 posts)Because I'm the only liberal there, or at least the only vocal one. I relish it on most occasions, because I can trounce them with a handful of sentences. They have no ammo. I call them SAMs (Simplistic Angry Males) and they know what it means and they hate it.
There is a Dolphins site called Finheaven that used to have an overwhelmingly right wing hate filled sports forum but now that has turned around and a handful of extremely sharp liberals actually control the discussion.
That's an extreme rarity. As a USC alum I can't stomach their sports message boards because the political forums are so disgusting. Right wing hacks talking to each other.
Yeah, the radio networks are problematic. I have 6 stations as favorites both AM and FM. The local teams are covered on AM so otherwise I keep everything on FM so I won't run into the hate radio by accident.

(4,450 posts)the Badger message boards can get quite "colorful!" I have noticed the majority of Badger fans who are actually alumni (as I am) lean left, and that the right-wingers who are there are mostly Packer fans looking for something to do on Saturday.

(101,321 posts)Has this woman, and the White House, no self-awareness, or sense of irony, at all? When trying to attack someone else for saying inaccurate things, she says "this may not be accurate, but watch it anyway". And if that video is an O'Keefe abomination, then that's even more disgraceful.
They are the dumbest, most dishonest, self-entitled pieces of garbage that ever got anywhere near a controlling office, whether a governor or a presidency.

And I don't believe this was intentional irony on her part. It was either ignorance or propaganda.

(7,886 posts)She admits she doesn't fact check, just throws it out. The problem with the O'Keefe thing is that no matter the truth, the desired outcome happened. Same as what happened to Acorn, fabrication and lies but the Republicans ran with it even after it was proven false.

(10,272 posts)and its gotten us EXACTLY to the place she described--dangerous for america (as is made absolutlely fucking obvious by the fact that Donald Trump is the goddamned president).
But since she can't come out and say 'good job team, thanks for the agitprop and bringing The Suckers onboard' all they have is Projection writ large.
Trying to accuse the profit-margin-driven-media of making their pennies from lying to people, is only going to piss them off and drive them to make those pennies by telling the truth that much harder and better (i think Olbermann is correct about this, even if it will take some time). This dumbass probably just gaslighted herself into a propane factory and doesn't realize her boss likes to solve problems with a fucking blowtorch hahahahah.

Seriously, the press does not belong to Trump. If he wants nothing but fawning stenographers to write glowing testimonials extolling his lies, then he's got enough money to go out and buy an entire PR agency.
