Led by Republicans, our society has devolved from being a society that works toward the greater good to a society that works for the greatest greed. That is at the core of most of the problems we are facing right now.
Republicans have completely lost sight of documents like our Constitution and the New Testament, despite constantly telling us that they adhere to both. Clearly they have neither read, nor understood, either. The principles of both reject greed.
Right now, the Republicans are trying to cut off healthcare for the poor, in order to enrich the already rich. Greed, pure and simple. Since that party is currently in control of all three branches of federal government, they stand a good chance of doing just that.
Over and over again, Republicans have worked to increase the wealth of the wealthy and the misery of the miserable. They won't, for example, increase the minimum wage, because that would decrease the wealth of the CEOs, they believe.
Call it corporatism or just self-dealing, it is a track that leads nowhere good. Eventually, in fact, it leads to revolt and the destruction of the system itself. In the end, even the Republicans know that, but don't care. The short term is the only term they know.
The answer? That's simple. We must simply reject Republicans utterly at the polls. We must work to get everyone out to vote who is harmed by the greed over good policies of the GOP. We have to replace their control of government with our control.
If we can do that, we can turn it all around. If we fail to do that, we will be driven down until we no longer have the right to do it. I'm old. I won't see the end result of what is happening now and what happens next, but I'll try hard to make it happen. Please help!

(146,333 posts)Democracy is a foreign idea to Republicans, who would prefer an oligarchy, and are trying to establish one in the United States of America. A new feudalism would be ideal for what they would prefer.

(652 posts)but I think my best work was in raising 4 kids (ages 23 and 21 - triplets + 1) who are all on the same page I am, some even further left than I am. They are all critical thinkers and quite outspoken.
