Oh no, Tumpane said, hooking his arm around hers. You dont want to do that. Its just as good over here. Lets go grab some lunch and talk.
No, no, no, she answered. Im better off on this side. Just let me go.

Tumpane mouthed to a passer-by, Call 911. As they spoke, he said, the woman became more emotional. She cried and tried to slip from his grip. He locked both arms around her back. At times, she dangled both feet off the bridges edge, putting her full weight in his arms.
One man helped grab the womans arms, and another pinned her ankles against the bottom rail. Eventually, a police boat arrived, then a helicopter, an ambulance, a fire truck and a police officer. They put a life preserver on the woman and handcuffed one of her wrists to the bridge.

(12,328 posts)1. Root Sports interviewed the umpire after the Pirates-Rays game.
He was a hero yesterday, for sure.

(40,416 posts)3. He should have a double-pumper strike out or two dedicated to him.
You know the kind, where you cannot understand what the ump is saying even though one can hear him throughout the ballpark, but the umpire's double-pumper leaves absolutely no doubt the batter has struck out.
That's the highest of the umpire's art, when they are not saving people from suicide that is.
On edit:
This guy deserves the Nestor Chylak award, who was the absolute best double-pumper ever.
