...if not sooner.
That may be easier for Democrats to see than Republicans?
But, for those that wish to look, we can see that this is not going to end well. We can close our eyes and cover the tops of our heads with the palms of our hands, but we know this is a battle we have to fight.
America loses prestige around the world with every passing day. It's like you bought a brand new car but you don't like it anymore. What can you do? You are stuck with it.
We need to return to a democracy as soon as possible. Some folks confuse "democratic" with "Democratic" or with "Democrat" but all it really means is "the will of the people".
We need a "democracy" movement, in my opinion. We need to get it on the ballot as soon as possible.

I would like to see it but I doubt it would ever happen? It would require the will and the action of the people.

(5,325 posts)Your "return to democracy" is ambiguous and pretty much meaningless. What I think you're trying to say is you want to be able to run a referendum to remove Trump from office or negate the 2016 election or some such thing and, as has been pointed out in this forum countless times since November by me and many others, there is absolutely no constitutional provision for such a thing. Better to try to focus on things that might actually accomplish something.

(13,125 posts)Of course there isn't one, so first we would have to amend the constitution to enact a National Referendum Clause. Congress ain't gonna do that, perhaps a Constitutional Convention triggered by 34 of the states? Well that could happen, but as 35 of the states are run by lunatic Republicans, we might not like the results.
