I Cannot For The Life Of Me Figure Out Why The Repugs Continue To Protect Trump In Light......

of all the damage he's done to the Repug Party.

Why do they keep protecting him; circling the wagons and coming to his aid?

There doesn't seem to be a rational explanation given - lie after lie - scandal after scandal - contradictory tweet after tweet.

The only thing I can imagine is that they know that they will continue to win in 2018 and 2020 - so it doesn't matter to them what Trump does - their jobs and their power base will be protected.

Is the fix in for 2018 and 2020? Do they know that through voter suppression and future help by the Russians - they will continue with their dominance of the Senate, the House, the presidency and the courts?

What are your thoughts on this?

right now they would be so worried that he is killing their Party - that they need to do him in sooner than later.

On almost a daily basis - new Trump or his family or his team continues to do damage to the Party. The Repugs never know what new scandal they will awake to the next day.

How much more negative press do they need to endure before they pull the plug on this guy?

Other than getting a appointment on SCOTUS - he's really not helped them. No repeal and replacement of ACA and it doesn't look like that will happen. He's screwed up immigration. Tax reform looks iffy.

Yes - granted some of the reversals of Obama's EO's have perhaps helped the greedy 1%'ers and the Corps - but I would venture to say our economy is still fragile and could turn south at any time.

3. Abusive relationship syndrome

Seriously. Based on my own interactions on what I'm seeing online, it really feels similar to people I've known who got caught up in abusive relationships.

For some reason, usually related to their own insecurities, a person in an abusive relationship will go out of their way to defend and cover for their abuser. You point out to them how their significant other is not good for them, treats others badly, maybe has an offensive sense or humor or other bad habits, and they double down again and again in their defenses. Sometimes (or eventually) their defense transforms into an outright assault on you for bringing things up.

#1- Obama, they need revenge for having a black man in office. A racist president is their answer. He's the anti-Obama.

#2- Right wing media, which I listen/read/watch frequently has been shoving this anti-immigrant shit down the throats of their users for years. Trump is anti-immigrant (just like them).

#3- When FAKE NEWS started really emerging during the election campaign and some before, it was all about Obama is a Muslim, Hillary, Pizza-gate, Benghazi, etc. In rebuttal to all of that, Trump started calling all REAL news Fake and started preaching FAKE news like it was real. His followers are brainwashed. Now, anything that goes against their bias is fake and anything that supports their beliefs are real. It's backwards. So any real news that comes out about Trump and his regime and any scandals they are involved in... FAKE NEWS.

#4- While Trump has sooooo much drama going on around him and everyone is soooo appalled by his behavior, the things we aren't focusing on are things the right has wanted to do for a long time. Stripping all regulation, dumping all social programs, beefing up the military, etc. So, while we are distracted with Russia and health care DeVos is taking away education for POC, Pruitt is making cancer causing bug spay legal again, Perry refusing to report on state of nukes, maybe they are damaged, and so on, and so on.

I think there is more to it than that, but that's the gist of it.

happy if the Devil himself installs it, as long as it gets done. So, 'Kristians' will be with Trump to the end.

#6 -- People who lean toward authoritarianism actually have different brain anatomy; this makes it tough to use reason and rationality to convince Trumpers of anything. Their brains won't let them.

Democrats are at our lowest point, nationwide, in decades. One of the many reasons the GOP hasn't collapsed a dozen times since Nixon (they had real scandals, remember, like "treason" level, not "blowjob" level), is that they circle their wagons and fight twice as hard when the chips are down.

We can't ever be 100% like that -- one of the reasons we're Democrats is because we're decent human beings -- but there are lessons to learn.

Also, as was already mentioned, Trump will sign whatever unpopular legislation is put in front of him. Later, when the fat, lazy bastard is dead from a heart attack or impeached, he takes all the blame and no actual Republican has to take responsibility.

the Dems need to turn their attention and really run their future campaigns against the Repug Party and not put the whole focus on Trump alone.

We have to focus our attention on all the crap the Repugs are getting away with to destroy all that we've worked for.

We have to show point by point all the things that were reversed to weaken this country, our economy and our world standing. It is not all Trump. It is pretty much all Repugs that have enabled Trump to get away with what he's been getting away with.

We have to put the responsibility on the backs of the Repug Party and keep hammering home how they've enabled Trump.

They vote FOR things. That's why Obama won, and that's why I'm always harping about messaging and running for small races.

That and Republicans are assholes.

They'll stick with Trumpsky just as long as needed in order to get it. America is NOT their priority.
