Bill Cassidy (R-LA): McConnell won't "take a knee" on TrumpCare. He might, but he won't.

http://www.rawstory.com/2017/07/watch-gop-senator-instantly-contradicts-himself-on-mitch-mcconnell-and-health-care-plan/

In a bizarre interview on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” Tuesday, Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA) admitted that Senate Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) might be forced to “take a knee” when it comes to Trumpcare.

Frequent guest Mike Barnicle asked the question of the Louisiana senator only to have the Republican contradict himself within the same sentence.

“Mitch is not the kind of guy to take a knee,” Cassidy said. “Now, granted, it might occur, but I would like to think, Mike, that there would still be that path forward, if not this bill than in others. And I don’t think any of us are ready to take a knee.”

Cassidy claimed over the weekend that the Trumpcare bill was “dead” and that a blanket repeal without replacement was a “nonstarter.”

I hope the LA Dems have archived this picture for anyone running against him in the future.

It seems that they do not realize that they have nowhere to go on healthcare. They cannot "replace" the ACA without taking full ownership of the debacle it will be. The ACA added 37 million Americans to coverage so that they could access healthcare without being financially destroyed. The ACA has its problems, especially since the Republicans have been writing poison pills into the legislation. However, the Republican bill cuts off 22 to 26 million people from coverage, guts Medicaid, and allows insurance companies to screw people over like they were doing prior to ACA.

As much as people further left on the political spectrum were upset at the ACA for being a sell out to the insurance industry, it has done a lot of good; politically it was a great move as well because Republicans have very little choice but to do nothing, try to continue making the law weaker, repeal and replace with their worse bill, or just repeal and through the healthcare system into chaos.

Now, the part where things are not as rosy as I would hope is in the messaging. Republicans are good at messaging because they have no shame about lying and they have a media structure that allows their supporters to hear only news that carries their message. Their people are only hearing how "Obamacare" is dying, how the Democrats are obstructing, and other nonsense. The Democratic Party has to be out there screaming about what is actually going on. Every time Republicans propose some new way to weaken the ACA, Democrats need to scream. We need to be out there pushing the facts out so that Republicans can't lie their way out of the mess they made for themselves.
