Pelosi Statement on GOP’s Continued Budget Failure
San Francisco – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement after House Republicans announced they would not have a markup of their FY2018 budget this week:
“More than six months into the Congress, House Republicans are still flailing on their basic responsibility to pass a budget. Another delay, another sign of a House Republican Conference floundering and frightened of revealing the true job-killing disaster of their Billionaires First budget plans.
“While Republicans pour all their energy into making health care unaffordable for working families, there’s still no jobs bills, no budget, and no plan to avert a catastrophic default on the full faith and credit of the United States.
“The corrosive disarray of the Republican Congress and White House is only surpassed by the damage they have in mind for hard-working families across the country, particularly in rural America. Democrats will continue to fight for a budget that raises wages and creates good-paying jobs for everyone, everywhere.”
