the repugs keep referencing. I am sure it is bullshit, but seems none of the news persons seem to be able to address, and just look blankly at those spewing this shit.
What the hell is the story?

(182,942 posts)Its important to remember that whats ultimately concerning about Russiagate is the possibility that the Trump campaignincluding staffers now employed in the White House by the presidentworked with a hostile government whose leaders attempted to influence and disrupt the election with cyberattacks. The Chalupa story is about officials in an embassy passing along opposition research to a Democratic operative and reporters. The two episodes are not close to being the same, but that fact obviously wont stop Trumps supporters from deploying the story for yet another round of Clinton whataboutism.

The White House said Monday that the real collusion with a foreign power during the campaign was between the Democratic National Committee and Ukraine.
If you are looking for an example of a campaign coordinating with foreign country or a foreign source, look no further than the DNC which actually coordinated opposition research with the Ukrainian embassy, said White House principal deputy press secretary Sarah Sanders.
Fending off questions about Donald Trump Jr. meeting with a Russian lawyer during the presidential race, Mrs. Sanders noted at the daily White House press briefing that the DNCs work with Ukraine was well documented.
DNC operatives worked with officials at the Ukraine embassy in an effort to spread dirt on Donald Trump during the campaign, according to reports.
This is not an accusation. That is an on-the-record action that they took, Mrs. Sanders said.
No one in this room to my knowledge really had a problem with that, she said.

How in hell Ukraine had dirt on Donald Trump to share with the DNC, however, is beyond me.

(4,533 posts)The main reason Putin hates Hillary is probably that she supported the overthrow of the previous pro-Russia leader of Ukraine. We probably did in Ukraine what Putin did in USA - interfered in a foreign election. We used to just have foreign leaders we did not like assassinated. Now we must be more careful because the word will get out.
Colluding with friends isn't as bad as colluding with enemies. But there is probably a reasonable argument that the Dems too are not free of sin.

(43,214 posts)In sum, a Ukrainian-American consultant who did some work with the DNC decided to do some investigative work about Paul Manafort, she spoke to a few Ukrainian government officials and got some info, and apparently shared what she got with the DNC and some others, like Michael Isakoff. As far as I know, at no point did she even identify herself to Ukrainian officials as working for the DNC or Hillary's campaign.
That's it.
Really, that's it.
It's...what do you call it....oh yeah. A Nothing Burger.
At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if the talking point isn't being pushed by Russia as just one more Fuck You to Ukraine.
