87 Percent of Americans Unaware There's Scientific Consensus on Climate Change
By Pam Wright Jul 11 2017 10:00 AM EDT weather.com

Nearly 90 percent of Americans are unaware that there is a consensus within the scientific community that human-caused climate change is real and threatens the planet, a new report says.

According to the report published last week by the Yale Program on Climate Change Communication and the George Mason University Center for Climate Change Communication, only 13 percent of Americans were able to correctly identify that more than 90 percent of all climate scientists have concluded that climate change is real.

7. Sensational headline

If you actually look at the report, while the headline is technically correct the amount of people who actually believe in global warming is much higher.

Seven in ten Americans (70%) think global warming is happening, which nearly matches the highest level in our surveys (71%), recorded in 2008. By contrast, only about one in eight Americans (13%) think global warming is not happening.

So while it may be true that most can't correctly identify the percentage of scientific agreement the actual number of people that agree with the scientific research is much much higher than the headline implies.

Instead if the sensational article.

I know many on here prefer to be spoon fed what to believe. But the actual report is much more encouraging than this click bait article implies.

Over half of Americans (58%) understand that global warming is mostly human caused, the highest level since our surveys began in November 2008. By contrast, three in ten (30%) say it is due mostly to natural changes in the environment – the lowest level recorded since 2008.

for the next 4 years possibly 8 years and they will make sure the United States of America does absolutely nothing to stop it.

They don't give a shit if 99% of all Americans believe climate change is caused by humanity because the koch bros pay so well!

On the contrary they will do all they can to make it worse because we are now a rouge nation in this world, controlled by madmen.
