Something Trump said doesn't make sense

Okay, there are a great many things he's said that don't make sense but this one jumped out from his NY Times interview.

Trump stated that James Comey told him privately about the Steele Dossier. Trump said he thought Mr. Comey was trying to exert leverage over the president so he could keep his job.

If that was Mr. Comey's intention, then why didn't he exercise his leverage?

Trump doesn't understand anything that comes out of his own mouth. He's an idiot.

By the way, James Comey didn't "need" his job at the FBI. Given his experience, there are dozens of law firms that would welcome him as a partner. More money, less work, plenty of prestige, personal privacy and not having to deal with Trump. Sounds good to me! Mr. Comey deserves it.

how to handle the Steele Dossier, as he said in Senate hearings. It was at the direction of other FBI officials that he followed to let 45 be aware of this material.

3. Only makes sense in the context of Trump's penchant for projecting.

If Trump had incriminating information about someone, he would use it against them and "leverage" it for personal, political, or financial gain. He can't imagine anyone else would do otherwise.

Trump's behavior actually does make sense when viewed with the perspective you made, Tanuki.

I was always under the impression that "bright" people learn quickly..

Trump does not learn at all and, he seems to never learn...that proves he is not bright..He is slow. stupid, foolish, idiotic, dumb, etc, etc, etc...

7. Smart people want to learn

Intelligence brings a curiosity to learn new things. Really smart people know that there is more to know.

Trump is all the things you wrote, Stuart G, and so many more, too.

I get the impression he has a 25 word vocabulary
and just rearranges the words in one self-serving
gimmick after another.

8. Nor did Mueller need to be FBI director again.

And yet Trump sets it up as though Mueller has some ax to grind against him because he supposedly rejected him to replace Comey as FBI Director.

The guy served 12 years as FBI Director. Somehow I think that's probably enough for Mueller.
