This was inevitable. At some point, Trump was going to figure out what the rest of us knew months ago: Mueller's investigation will end his presidency, expose everything, and set him and his children on a course for prison and historical disgrace.
As with so much else about Trump, in this we the people were lucky that our president is so dumb and slow. Mueller had time to dig in deep and assemble an all-star team that already has its tentacles into everything.
Meanwhile, because Jeff Sessions has turned out to be a crafty mofo who has zero respect for Trump and apparently recognized him as an easily manipulated mental midget from the beginning, Trump has no easy path to getting rid of Mueller quickly.
The voters failed us in 2016, bigly. But the Constitution, though badly damaged, is still holding together. The Founders always knew, from the very beginning they knew, that the voting mechanism is a necessary but dangerous part of this experiment in self-governance.
I'm calling my Congressman today and telling him that any attempt by Trump to interfere in the DOJ's investigation is a red line for me, and my expectation is immediate impeachment and removal if that red line is crossed.

(1,474 posts)Russia did interfere in our election and help elect trump.
Still, Democrats do not vote as they should. They did not in 2010 or 2014. Repugs gained the house, the senate, and made massive gains at the state level - hence the outrageous gerrymandering the repugs were able to do. In 2016 voters failed miserably. Many voted for green party and many did not vote.
Look at the voter participation in other countries. The United States is very sad. Much is due to GOP voter suppression and their eroding of trust in government.
The country strongly agrees with Democratic positions, but way too many become complacent or apathetic and do not vote.
Remember DU friends the more we vote the more we preserve our democracy.
