White House counselor Kellyanne Conway said Sunday that President Trump doesn't believe he's lying about various controversial statements he's made without backing them up with evidence.
Conway got into a heated exchange with CNN host Brian Stelter on "Reliable Sources" on Sunday over CNN's coverage of Trump, with Stelter saying the network was covering the scandals coming out of the White House.
Conway demanded Stelter say what scandals had come out of the administration. Stelter responded by pointing to Trump's claims that former President Obama ordered the wiretapping of Trump Tower and that millions of illegally cast votes cost him the popular vote - both ideas that the president presented without backing up with evidence.
"The scandals are about the president's lies," Stelter said. "About voter fraud, about wire-tapping, his repeated lies about those issues. That's the scandal."
"He doesn't think he's lying about those issues, and you know it. He has gone forth and he talked about surveillance," Conway said before Stelter cut her off.
"A lot of husbands don't think they're lying when they cheat on their spouse and then say they're not. It doesn't mean they're not lying," Stelter said.

(90,787 posts)That since Trump doesn't believe a fact is a fact, he is not lying when he calls that fact a lie.
If it's not true to Trump then it's not true to anyone. It's not true, period.
If Trump believes something (no matter how false), then it's true for him, so it's not a lie.

His closest allies and family are shaming him by not telling him the truth.

(24,053 posts)...anything he says is true. I don't think he would know the truth is he tripped over it.
