(34,857 posts)They'll have a debate, add amendments and try to get the thing passed in the next 20 hours or so to avoid a Democratic filibuster.
It seems our side has two Republicans that will oppose any bill - Collins and Murkowski. They'll still need one additional Republican to break the tie (50-50 goes to the Repubs with Pence as the tie-breaker).

(1,714 posts)he won't vote for the bill as is. Capito also won't vote for it. There are probably a few others. I'm not sure what the point of this is, since the bill is doomed to fail. I think McConnell just wanted his R's to put their $$ where there mouths were when they voted--repeatedly--to repeal it.

(7,533 posts)McConnell immediately tried to dispense with even reading the first amendment, but that was objected to.
Protesters were temporarily heard chanting "kill the bill" in the gallery a few minutes after the reading started.
This first part seems to be all the markup that involves repealing ACA. It's a long string of "section 5, paragraph B the amount $657 is struck and replaced with $0..."
It's as interesting as reading out all the document changes in Microsoft Word, but THIS IS YOUR JOB CONGRESSPEOPLE!

(22,448 posts)Then they'll hear amendments.
Then points of order.
Then final amendment.
Then final vote.
Then it goes to conference with the House.
