U.S. stocks whipsawed on Thursday on the back of a report that the Russia investigation is intensifying.

Special Counsel Robert Mueller impaneled a grand jury in his investigation into Russia's involvement in the U.S. election, the Wall Street Journal reported minutes before the close.

The Dow Jones industrial average dipped lower on the report before closing 9.86 points higher at 22,026.10. The index also posted its seventh straight record close.

Why is everybody being mean to the republican Draft-Dodger-in-Chief, Comrade Casino, and his republican cabal of colluding cronies?

The republican leadership is no doubt planning to send condolences to their buddies in the kremlin.

But frankly, considering the way some people acted like a high dow was the voice of God, I am enjoying a bit of schadenfreude.

The DJIA turn negative only momentarily, it simply fell a little over 30 points on the news, then recovered about 20 points, finishing up 9.86 for the day. The actual low for the day occurred just before 10 AM.
