His tenure at DHS has been one of cruelty and indifference to suffering.

The unsupported Kelly hagiography ignores the testimony of those such as the ICE agent who last month bared his soul to the New Yorker magazine. The agent told the magazine that he wasnt a fan of micromanagement and some policies during the Obama years, but now he was appalled at what was happening at the agency under Kelly and Trump. Things such as basic humane discretion, or simply calling an interpreter to resolve a problem, he says, have been tossed out the window because [t]he problem is that now there are lots of people who feel free to feel contempt. The agent said he struggled to understand a policy change to deport children who had been placed in U.S. homes and given an education, only because they had turned 18 and were now legally adults. Were doing it because we can, the unnamed agent told the magazine, and it bothers the hell out of me.

(17,042 posts)isn't going to have the values needed to run a benign government. If the russians have influenced repugs from Abramoff forward, it's going to be hard to find a repuke that doesn't want to hammer down with an iron fist. Right now, it is all love of agenda, not love of country or defense of Constitution.
You got it. If Trump admitted guilt there would be a chance he was innocent

(2,593 posts)So many (media, pundits, people in general) seemed to think his appointment would mark a turning point and improve WH operations, but I've had reservations all along based on his tenure at DHS.

(58 posts)He is used to following orders! There is little excuse for his support of the Muslim ban, his many apologies for Trumps actions, and aggressive (competent) execution of the agenda given to him.
History has lots of other military men (hench-men) who claimed that they were just following orders.
Nuerenberg disproved that as an excuse!
