Seriously, though, people point out that the population of NK experiences borderline starvation and almost no infrastructure services- like electricity- particularly outside of Pyongyang.

The problem with aid; like food, for instance- is the same problem that crops up with any sort of totalitarian regime/warlords/etc. The aid is hoarded by those in power and just used to further cement their control over the people. The folks most in need don't receive it.

I can already imagine that Lil Kim would tell all the people the food is poison and everything else is dangerously radioactive. Then order the military to arrest or kill anyone found with an Xbox.

i don't think most of the population would fall for the lies. but the problem is as you say, the horrible regime which would just kill them over things like that. and the place being so closed off to the outside world.

And I am sure if the regime wanted to they could make a lot of room in them really fast for new residents.
