Now they've put me on seizure meds for back/spinal pain, Arthritis and nerve damage from an amputation accident. I'm still in severe pain and walk around zombified from the "alternative" meds.
Doctors think I'm a drug-seeker or selling them. They treat me like shit and refuse to even hear about my conditions.
Fucking sick of this.

This country has gone insane.

Well, the important thing is that we're "gettin' tough" with folks who might be in danger of catching an unauthorized buzz. That's what matters, here.

Since this whole flapdoodle started, I've had to do the contract, pee in a bottle thing, too. It's silly because I've been on a stable dose of the same damn drug for over 10 years.

There has to be a special hell for antidrug hysterics who lean on pain patients instead of going after the drug companies that hawked the drugs that caused a huge increase in drug dependency.

I've been going through a pain clinic for seven years now, you have to sign a contract, take urinalysis tests, now and then a blood test, they'll call you in for a pill count now and then to make sure you still have the amounts you were prescribed minus the days since the scrip was filled.

You have to jump through a hoop or two but when you need meds to survive it's no big deal, if your doctor won't refer you to a clinic they aren't doing their job, they're just flippin lazy, they have to protect their license but you shouldn't suffer because of them.

I just read on another post here stating something about only getting a seven day supply at a time, how the fuck are you supposed to travel anywhere with a rule like that?, as usual, the knee jerk response from this gang of fools wasn't thought out for more than their ten second attention span allows.

We need to completely overhaul our approach to the "drug problem". What we're doing isn't working, hasn't been working, so why would we think that more of the same would work?

while a lot of out of control thugs get to throw their weight around overseas and attack farmers who are just trying to feed their kids by growing sutff that sells and they're BOTH in bed with the drug gangs.

The whole thing is so ridiculously corrupt it's too far gone to salvage, at all, and I'm completely flummoxed over how to get rid of it without a revolution.

Even "cracking down on overprescribing" just drives people to the black market.

Maybe take the high profit motive out of opiates, because the actual stuff itself isn't expensive once all the rigamarole is removed. Same thing with cocaine; it's not the plant and the production that jacks the price up, it's the bullshit around prohibition



.. we need to totally overhaul the whole fucking thing. The whole philosophy behind the idea that the government needs to be in charge of what consenting adults do with their own bodies.

If that means providing safe means for addicts to maintain their addiction until they- and not the "authorities"- decide they're ready for treatment, do that. Adopt a harm reduction approach.

Obviously no answer is perfect but what we're doing now has fallen flat on its face.

Doctors are no longer treating their patients responsibly.

The drug war has failed. And this crazy fucking inquisitional approach has deprived humanity of some of the most powerful tools we have found for personal growth and research into mind and consciousness.
