I think he was selected to be a counter-balance, opposite of Trump. I don't trust him, but I don't think he has a conspiracy against Trump. I think his short term plans are fulfilling Paul Ryan's dreams, the Supreme Court, being the tie-breaker in the Senate and all of that RW stuff. Every right wing thing that gets passed makes him feel more powerful. It's an ego thing. Also if Trump gets cast aside, he's got the full backing of the Right Wing.

Manafort is a shady character and looks to be a spy for other countries.
