Williams and Gregory on NBC Nightly News tonight seemed to be channeling Fox & Friends.
It's good that the story about Romney's SEC filings as head of Bain is finally getting more attention from the media.
But the coverage of the story on NBC Nightly News tonight was a whitewash I'd've expected from Fox & Friends.
Brian Williams used the word "today" repeatedly when talking about the story, apparently to try to give the impression that this story had actually started today, not yesterday, with the Boston Globe article, when there wasn't a single word about it on NBC's evening news. After all, if he'd admitted this story had popped up yesterday, regular viewers of the show might have wondered why he'd said nothing about it then.
That was bad enough. Worse was the NBC coverage tonight suggesting this story about how long Romney remained in control of Bain had originated with the Obama campaign. The fact this story came from the Boston Globe wasn't mentioned at all.
Then David Gregory took over with more shilling for the Republicans, and Romney's defense of himself, and the suggestion that fact-checking was on Romney's side.
It looked as though, after deliberately ignoring the story when it broke yesterday, NBC Nightly News brought it up tonight only to swat it down and give Romney a platform for his side of the story.
The NBC coverage tonight was a disgusting excuse for journalism, worth of Carlson, Doocy and Kilmeade at their most idiotic.
David Gregory has disappointed so often that I'm not really surprised by him.
But I thought Brian Williams was a better journalist than this.
