With all the seemingly insane things coming out of the POTUS' mouth I think I still get what his play/plan is with all of this bluster. Note, that I also think he may regretfully underestimate the North Korean regime. I think that Trump has seen NK continually make empty threats towards the US, heck they "declared war" on us a year ago. So his plan to revive his sagging poll numbers is to manufacture a crisis and make it seem like we need a strong leader. After all the tough talk North Korea will likely back down again and Trump will go around and say his tough talk and leadership was the reason. They will then use this "victory" as a notch in his belt and try to parlay that into moving the poll numbers more in his favor. Not sure if it will work and may we all pray he doesnt push NK too far.

He realizes that his poll numbers are never going to be good enough to quash his opposition but he can use his base to close down civil liberties. Unless Congress acts quickly.

(94,571 posts)Why do people attribute strategic planning to Donald Trump when he's NEVER exhibited any? Everything he does is pure in-the-moment impulse.
