(5,810 posts)Impeachment will take too long, I fear. I think the 25th amendment, done properly, could give him the heave-ho in record time. And TIME is of the essence before this fool gets us into wars all over the globe.

(24,764 posts)"25ing" Tramp gets him out of the way, which will give us time to start imepachment proceedings.
But the 25th Amendment solution is temporary. That's how come I say 25 45 first--followed by impeachment to make sure he stays out of office, possibly forcing him to forfeit both his Secret Service protection and his pension.

(4,033 posts)to launch an attack on N. Korea without consulting Congress or anyone else, since we are technically still at war with N. Korea. There was an armistice signed, but no Peace Treaty, or surrender by either side. So, it seems to me, that Trump could reasonably (does that word even apply in any circumstances to Trump?) argue that N. Korea either broke or is planning to break the armistice and he needed to use military force to protect S. Korea and/or Guam.
So, don't hold your breath for Trump to listen to Congress, or for that matter, anyone else, to stop him from doing whatever he decides to do. Remember, he is the 'decider in chief', right?

(51,129 posts)Which is pretty much is only weapon now. N. Korea must be ROFLTAO at how Trump doesn't even know he lacks the power to do what he is threatening.

Critics say Trumps rhetoric violates Twitters rules and terms of service
By Brian Fung -- The Washington Post -- August 11, 2017
Thats what some Twitter users, including actor and former Barack Obama aide Kal Penn, are demanding, after President Trump tweeted Friday morning that U.S. military solutions are now fully in place, locked and loaded, should North Korea act unwisely.

(37,648 posts)I'll try to find it.
It's basically because the Constitution doesn't self-enforce. The President can do anything IF Congress doesn't stop it. And Congress doesn't stop it. The precedent started with Truman and has been done a number of times by different Presidents since then, NONE of which strikes have been stopped by Congress.
He can nuke another country in defense, too, IF his Secretary of Defense agrees. But if the Sec of Defense doesn't agree, he is allowed to fire him.
Trump knows these things and is positively giddy with joy at all the power he has. As he turned around on stage and told Paul Ryan, "I'm President! I'm President!"

(37,648 posts)It's dated March 2016. Even way back then some people were concerned w/the possibility of his being elected President and having weapons at his disposal.
The upshot of the article is that Trump could make an argument for it (not that he would bother), because it's an established precedent in our country that Presidents can, and do, do that. It started with Truman.
Article says that Congress has never stopped a President from militarily striking another country (not in an emergency, which doesn't require Congress, by law). The Constitution is not self-enforcing, it says. It requires Congress to act. So when they don't, as they haven't, this gives him the power.
Trump has already done this, to a smaller extent, when he hit Syria w/o asking Congress to approve or even agree.

(3,435 posts)...an agreement...he just might do it because every thing he does is contrary to Obama. As for the repubs, they all got the hell out of Dodge muy pronto!
This NK debacle is a farce, staged; a distraction orchestrated by Trumpf to divert our attention from Mueller, grand jury and Manafort. Eltrumpf is f#$!#g angry and is trying stop this investigation from moving forward, his nice little messages to Muellar, almost taunting him, threats of firing him didn't work, threats of firing Sessions (also a farce) all done to intimidate Muellar, obstruct justice)) then the raid on Manafort shite! He needed an apocalyptic distraction-- rain fire and fury on NK, threat of war ...invoking fear in all Americans, and the millions people living near or in North Korea. Rather than deescalating threat, negotiate wth NK, Trumpf doubles down uses bombastic rhetoric...he is unfit to be president!
Well, trumpf got what he wanted, all week every news outlet's main lede was about him and his reign of terror; his fire and fury threat to NK...narrative has carried over to weekend, it's Friday evening, and nonstop coverage nuclear threat from NK, threat of war..on every channel--front and center. FEAR! " ...the only thing to fear is...fear itself..." (FDR1932)
