I agree that putting our hope on Republicans to suddenly turn on Trump and impeach him or hold him accountable is a pipe dream. We need to start taking back our country at the local level.

ATLANTA The resistance movement that flourished with Donald Trump's ascendance to the White House isn't necessarily itching to see his presidency undone by the investigation into Russia's election meddling or even impeachment.
They'd rather beat Trump and other Republicans at the ballot box, winning an argument over the nation's direction, not the president's fitness for office.
To be clear, liberal activists gathered for the annual Netroots Nation confab this weekend in Georgia say they're following counsel Robert Mueller's inquiry into possible collaboration between Russian agents and Trump's inner circle. But obsessing over subpoenas, much less clamoring for impeachment, they say, distracts from larger policy debates and congressional midterm elections whose outcomes will last beyond Trump.
"This administration is a dumpster fire, but that means we need members of the movement focused on everything, on action," says Ericka Perrson, an organizer for the Working Families Party. "Russia, that whole investigation can serve sometimes as a magic trick. There's this hand moving up in the air so you don't see what's going on over here."

(15,064 posts)Something needs to be done now. It may not be by Republicans and maybe not even be for the sake of Democrats. Trump, Bannon, Gorka, Miller and Don Jr are dangerous people. Waiting for an election and jawboning could do more harm that would last for generations. It's not hyperbole to say this could be the end of more than a democratic republic.

(6,137 posts)because it may give false hope to dem voters that trump will be taken care of; we can't become complacent; adrenaline must run high so everyone gets to the polls each and every time as their life depend on it. Let gop voters enthusiasm die down, don't energize them by talking about impeachment.

(51,593 posts)between the Resistance and Indivisible. I have been familiar with both since last Jan when I began "resisting".
I know people in a few different Indivisible groups in my city and the article correctly explains their goals. The are doing what the Tea Party did in 2009 and starting at a grass roots level. They are very organized, serious, goal oriented, strategic, and pacing themselves realistically and rationally. They are all volunteers too!
The Resistance is involved in the town halls, calling and contact our reps in Congress, marches and rallies for various issues that have evolved with the new fake prez. They have nationwide phone calls, guest speakers from various Dem groups, etc with goals set for current legislative agendas and calendars.
The Resistance and Indivisible do join one another in events like marches and protests sometimes.
I would like to see more Impeachment or 25th Amend marches in the near future. I haven't heard of any and will let you know as I usually do. They are staying vigilant and not giving up like the Repubs had hoped would happen.

(46,104 posts)Democratic President, 50/50 Senate, Majority of 1 in House (Republican), I promise you that all work for the country would be paralyzed until that democratic president were to be impeached and convicted. Just because.
