Why "Made In Korea"?

I was going through some new O Scale model trains I recently purchased - and I noticed they were labeled "Made in Korea" - which was not a surprise. But with all the hub-bub about North Korea - I was wondering why these kinds of exported goods were labeled "Made in Korea"? I can only assume they were made in South Korea - so, why wouldn't they label them "Made In South Korea"?

Is there a reason for this?

The key requirement is clarity - most of the world uses Korea to refer to South Korea, and North Korea is called North Korea:
