(146,308 posts)who know them and then their photos giving the Nazi salute could be published with their names so they would follow them around all of their lives any time a Google search was done on their names.
I don't know any of them, or I'd do just that. I want them to feel consequences for their hatred. Consequences that interfere with their livelihoods, jobs, and everything else.
There are people who know those men. I hope they act on this.

"Mr. Dumbfuck, can you please explain this photograph of you from the Internet? We found it while doing a routine Google search of your name, and we find it puzzling, so we need an explanation from you about the circumstances when it was taken."

(12,448 posts)And people lost their minds? And by "people" I mean all Republicans and some from...lemme see, how can I say this without getting an alert?--from um, Independent-leaning.
If what we saw today wasn't a mark of the Deplorables, I don't know what is. But we're supposed to "reach out" to them.

(28,257 posts)Future historians (provided there is a future) will look back on this shameful era and just shake their heads. trump has managed to bring out the very worst elements lurking in our society. I have more and more doubts that anything short of an armed conflict will make things correct, again. The leadership of the Democratic Party looks more impotent by the day. What the hell are we going to do about this, folks?

I am so sick at the white privilege, entitlement and just plain hate for all not white, male and RW...that has been exhibited here as case #1 and #proof #1 as to white systemic racism, white entitlement and privilege.....but in a still predominantly white racist country, state, town, neighborhood...what can be expected? AmeriKKKa is getting sicker by the day...sad.
yet on second thought I am slightly happy one or more of these racist pinheads weren't killed and many more wounded as there would be very great gnashing of teeth and pitiful lament over the loss of such people of potential. No releasing criminal backgrounds and charges, no excuses made for the 'protector in blue' ion handling these rioters. And rioters over a stinking c.s.a. monument. But of course that one monument is more important than a whole race of offended, harassed, murdered people. More important than cohesiveness of a nation of all racial, ethnic backgrounds.
To hell with white privilege and entitlement....it just creates problems for everyone. Really.

(54,379 posts)Besides the fact that of this crowd, the ratio of participants that voted Republican compared to those who voted Democratic is undoubtedly 100% to 0%, I offer the story of a retired SS officer in Germany in the 1980s who wanted to start a Neo-Nazi party:
In Germany, the Nazi party as well as Nazi symbols and the fascist salute are forbidden. So the guy had to search around for another name for his start-up movement. He found his name right in the good old USA: Die Republikaner. When Republicans whined that I was calling them Nazis, I said I had stated nothing of the sort. All I said was that I found it unfortunate that a bunch of German Neo-Nazis looking for a name to use found their greatest inspiration with our Republicans.
In France, Sarkozy's center-right party recently consolidated with a few kindred spirits and, apparently (and mistakenly) thinking our Republicans had moderated their stance since the early Obama years (this was before the 2016 election), renamed their party "Les Républicains," probably to their ultimate chagrin. That has to be one of the most ill-timed moves in French history since Marie Antoinette said, "let them eat cake." **OK, no, she didn't really say that, but the legend fits my point.
