So, WHY did Mittens choose the Friday News Dump

to refute the questions about Bain?

I'll admit, it was pretty ballsy to grant interviews with all the major broadcast news and 2 cable channels. OK, the cable channels don't really count (Friendly Fox and a Fox Wannabe).

But why schedule it so that it will air on the day and time slot that is almost guaranteed to get the least amount of coverage?

Unless Romney's handlers were afraid of what he might say - after all, he does tend to only open his mouth to change feet.

Or is he really afraid of something? Is the Obama Campaign really close to something that Rmoney doesn't want to come out?

Hmmmm, so many questions.....

Rove has trained these guys well. It isn't necessary to tell the truth, just refute whatever your opponent says. Your base wants you to fight and even a lie looks like fighting back

He knew the Liberal Media, wouldn't press him too hard, plus from what I have heard he just repeated to same canned statement over and over.
Now the Sunday talk shows get to say how he explained everything and we should move on.
I haven't heard who Romney, the Republicans and the Koch Krew is sending to repeat it on Sunday.

Honestly? Panic and poorly managed damage control. He wasn't talking to us little people. He was giving the media their talking points for the false equivalency that they seem so hell bent on promoting.

The Globe putting it out on Thursday forced him to respond this way on friday.

It is not the time the Romney people wanted, but their hand was forced.

there are a lot of people that aren't even home on Friday evenings. Of course, there are a lot of people who are, but they are probably watching Netflix or something.

The weeks are clicking by and Romney hasn't had a good one recently (if ever).

ACA and the SCOTUS killed the whole week of June 28
then he did his Kennedy vacation photo op with the Bay Watch jet ski pic
then this week has been Bain gate

The Obama campaign has this stuff stacked up like the planes at LaGuardia. They are so far ahead that they have already started attacking his VP before Romney names one. It is as if Team Obama is worried that the clock will run out before they have a chance to use everything they have.

Yes they choose the Friday news dump because they are on the defensive. They had to mention Bain. And they know that even the mention of the word is bad for them. So their strategy was actually a good one if you're in a corner. Defend themselves and counter-attack (so that the media has it on the record) but don't do it in public so the public isn't reminded that there is an issue. Then hope that the media finds Katie Holmes divorce more interesting by Monday.

on his show this morning. I wonder if he will be stricken with amnesia Monday morning and proclaim that all is well now that Mitt "explained" everything...that lying, rotten bastid...
