(40,211 posts)He can't say what he doesn't believe. I now believe that Trump is a Nazi. He admires white supremacists and neo-nazis. He can't bring himself to speak out against them.

What Trump should have said:
"I DO NOT WANT YOUR VOTE."
"I DO NOT WANT YOUR SUPPORT."

(10,828 posts)He did indeed give a statement that Trump could have given but didn't. McAuliffe was clear, emphatic and called the haters for what they are: unAmerican thugs. This is what all public officials should be doing--a visceral condemnation. Forget the 'problematic' and/or 'disturbing' comments. What played out today, an intentional attack on fellow Americans, was disgusting and repugnant. It makes Trump's words all the more lame and tone deaf. These are white supremacist terrorists--KKK, Nazis, all manner of nationalistic malcontents. There are not 'many sides' to this. There is no moral equivalency between those supporting social and economic justice and a bunch of skinheads spewing racial hatred.
Another goose egg for the Trumpster, an egregious failure in leadership.
