I'm not registered to vote !

I have lived / worked from Maine to Florida to California and am now retired in New Mexico. Since becoming eligible to vote, I have voted in every election possible.
I voted as recently as the school board election this Spring and the Presidential election last fall.

Because I am elderly and disabled, for the past ten years I have taken advantage of ‘absentee voting’. About six weeks before an election I phone the city clerk and request an application for an absentee ballot. When I get it, I fill it out and return it.

A few weeks before the election I get the absentee ballot, mark my choices, and mail it back to the city clerk. We have an election this October, so I called the city clerk and asked for the application for an absentee ballot.

They could not find me on the voter rolls, asked if I had ever registered to vote here, had I ever voted in New Mexico, etc.
For some reason I disappeared off the voter rolls.

I don’t know if the fact I am a Democrat and the Governor, Mayor, etc are Republicans has anything to do with it.

Hopefully I can re-register before the upcoming election.

Ten years of me voting here in Albuquerque, N.M and my name mysteriously disappeared off the voter rolls.

Be a giant pain in the ass until you are on the list again. Give them hell.

Sorry this calls for strong language.

7. I know you're disabled, but is there any way you could get to the City Clerk's office in person?

If not, ignore my comments, but if there is a way you could show up with ID, etc., and confront them face to face, I think it would force them to figure out what happened.

It could be completely innocent -- some underpaid clerk was assigned to check to see who hadn't voted for the past six years and did it by checking the sign-in books maintained at the polling places. Yes, it would be pretty stupid to forget that some people vote absentee and wouldn't be in those books. No, it wouldn't be so stupid as to be beyond the realm of plausibility.

If you're having a heart-to-heart with the Board of Elections to get yourself back on the rolls, you might ask them if something like this could have occurred. You might get yourself and hundreds of others back on the rolls

9. It seems awfully unlikely that absentee voters aren't recorded as having voted in the same book.

Otherwise it would be easy to double-vote.

And please check with your local city clerk and let your local Democratic party know what's going on.

This is from 2014, but it may give you some information as to whom to contact etc.
