I am very proud of my 3 years service as a medic with the 82nd airborne and subsequent service as an armor officer. My West Point grad son also served as an Infantry officer for 4 years.

I doubt he is active because of the beard and the hair and he could easily buy ACUs at an army surplus store but it wouldn't surprise me if he actually did serve. I'm a veteran myself and come across many older veterans who are wing nuts and were happy with Donald Trump being elected though I'm not sure how they feel these days.
