When protestors AGAINST hate pulled down a statue of one of these "brave" rapist and murderers without waiting for "the right time."

...the vast majority who fought and died did not own slaves. And given their economic status, were never likely to do so. Slavery actually kept them poor and economically depressed.

Once it was outlawed, they actually improved their economic status but the wealthy plantation owners, weren't as rich as they used to be.

The history of the Civil War has been corrupted and lied about, for example;

"The War of Northern Aggression"
FALSE: The South started the war when it fired upon Fort Sumter. They then proceeded to invade the North, with the goal of taking Washington DC. Their goal, to force the North to cede territory in the West.

"They felt that their way of life was being threatened"
FALSE; The Abolitionists goals were to contain slavery into the states that still recognized and not allow it to expand. In fact, the slavery states had successfully got a law passed that a fleeing slave in a northern state was still their property and could still apprehend him/her. Hence why fleeing slaves now had to flee to Canada.

"The war was about the agricultural south vs. industrial north".
Surprise, some truth to that, but its often "spinned" in the wrong way. Wealthy Southerners wanted to get into industry as well. Except it lacked the local resources to fully exploit it. There were resources in the West, however, they would not be able to reap the yields of it if their cheap source of labor, slaves, were outlawed. Furthermore, they did not like the level of immigration coming in from Europe, this meant the labor pool was larger and the Government, to make sure they had jobs, would limit slavery and not allow the expansion.

Highways, streets, buildings you name it. Hard to erase history. Harder even to learn from it, especially in the south. Enjoy the rude pundit very much.
