Some people have said that he's not really a Republican, but they're incorrect. He is as much a Republican as Bernie Sanders was a Democrat when he ran for President. Both ran as members of the parties in question.
Both were on the primary ballots of their Party. Both received delegate votes at their party's convention. It is incorrect to claim that the Republican nominee, selected at the Republican National Convention, is not a Republican. He is THE Republican nominee for President, and, despite losing by 3 million popular votes, is now sitting in the White House as President.
Bernie Sanders, on the other hand, did not receive the nomination of his party, and so did not appear on the November ballot. However, he was a legitimate candidate for that nomination and received votes at the Democratic National Convention. He did not prevail, but was a Democrat at that time. Since the Convention, he has assumed his status as an Independent Senator from Vermont, and is not now a Democrat, but he was a Democrat during his run for the presidency.
The Republicans OWN Donald Trump. He IS their Republican. What he does is the Party's choice. They nominated him and so approved of his becoming President. Donald Trump IS a Republican, and the Republican Party is responsible for making him their candidate. What he does while in office is the Republicans' responsibility, and theirs alone.

(51,611 posts)because his speeches weren't typically "right" at the time. Also he changes parties constantly. Since he became the fake prez he has proven that he is very, very Republican.

(17,984 posts)Especially after only seven months. It's not like they can claim he has changed a lot since his nomination. HOWEVER, is it worth letting them get away with it if it means they will get rid of him? There are two games here: the short and the long games. If we play the short game, we get rid of tRump and keep the repug party. If we play the long game, we keep tRump around for a while longer and eventually get rid of him and the repug party.

(3,077 posts)I know some Republicans say they don't consider him conservative and don't consider the Neo-Nazis and KKK conservative but they are. They own all that shit. He is the figurehead of their party. The Neo-Nazis and KKK are part of the base.

(3,077 posts)I got into it with Representative Steven Smith and a few others about it. I said as you stand by silently or only using words not action, your party is a reflection of Trump, Neo-Nazis and KKK.

(7,113 posts)> He wants to cut taxes, especially for the rich.
> He considers only those SCOTUS nominees sure to oppose abortion rights.
> He thinks climate change is a hoax.
> He supports spending huge bucks on the military.
> He takes every opportunity to destroy the social safety net, from Obamacare, to Medicare/aid, Social Security, Planned Parenthood, and Meals on Wheels.
> He's a big fan of "law and order."
> He never saw a regulation worth keeping.
> He believes business -- especially big business -- is good and workers -- especially unions -- are bad.
> He keeps the Religious Right happy, through anti-LGBTQ actions, "religious conscience" orders, etc.
> He hates Hillary and Obama and says so daily.
The only reason GOPers are now claiming he isn't one of them is he's likely to lose them elections in the mid-terms.

I am a Democrat deep into my soul
You are a Democrat deep into your soul
Trump has no soul
I believe that Trump is the most evil president this country has ever known
This country is in great danger until he is destroyed
The republicans do own him, however if you attack him as if he is a standard republican you make a grave mistake
To destroy Trump we have to attack him as Trump and not as a republican
If the republicans are destroyed at the same time all the better
Trump's weakness is money, the Trump brand, ego
