Homogeneous-ness: A Republican's Brain Fart

So, I was heading to the airport for a really early flight today, and my radio was tuned to the local news/traffic station where I get rush hour updates. This is also the local Limbaugh/Hannity/Cain talking heads station, by the way, so when I started the car some dude was yakking.. but it was 4:30 in the morning, too early for our local guys, and it turns out it was some syndicated dude named Chad Benson. (I have NO idea who he is, but he's apparently relegated to the wee hours.) And he was talking about how an apparently very successful anti-bullying campaign in Finland (where teachers and students aggressively shower praise on victims) wouldn't work in America because we are too diverse a society for such an approach to work. He never really explained his conclusion, although he did say diversity is a strength, he's all for it, etc., and a homogeneous society has its advantages, too. But anyhow, the part that made me spit out my coffee was when he continued on about most European countries being homogeneous like Finland, including Germany, where, he stated: Germany was homogeneous for decades until recently without any problems, until they started admitting more immigrants.

No problems? Not even in, say, the 1930s and 1940s? I seem to recall the pursuit of homogeneity in that country, and I think there were some difficult times.... Can't put my finger on it...

Not trying to popularize the guy or get him clicks or Google hits or anything. Just thought it was an odd "observation" on his part. In any case, I think Chad might need to hit the history books.
