Michael Steele was asked, "What are Republicans gonna do?" Regarding tRump

I think his answer was the most accurate I have heard when he said in disgust, "nothing".

Not only that but notice how they verbally won't even call tRump out by name?

It's not so much that they're cowards, we all knew that. It's the extreme level of cowardice that's astonishing.

They're afraid of fucking TWEETS, for Christ's sake!

But they're still cowards. Standing up to Nazis and White Supremacists shouldnt be that hard? Except that the Republicans utilize racism to win elections, esp in the South, so it's sort of their meal ticket, politically speaking

They'll tweet or put out some statement condemning racism and bigotry, and then vote in lockstep with his orders.

I honestly think the only way he leaves office is by losing reelection in 2020. I know I've heard people on DU say they think he'll step down, he'll be impeached, I don't believe that. He's not getting impeached, not with the overwhelming majorities Congress has to have to do that. And he's got far, far too much pride to step down.

I've heard people say this is the end for him, that he won't last until Saturday. This is a guy who was caught on camera, bragging of sexual assault. That night, he issued a half assed apology, attacked the media, and his poll number went up.

I hate to sound like a pessimist, but this latest problem? His poll numbers will drop for a day or two, then people will forget it happened and they'll go back up.

Hell yes. It's half past Way Too Frikken Late. What are you waiting for? Take a foursquare public stand. Now. Toss the freaking G.O.P. into the cesspool, and act like an American.

Politico released a poll today that Republican voters said:

Trump is more honest than McConnell (55% v 14%) and that Trump is more in touch with the base than McConnell (60% v 16%).

Until this changes you are going to see a lot of Republicans half criticize him when you twist their arm but not see any meaningful steps taken to change anything.

That a lot of these senators and congressmen that stick by him are coming from states and districts where Trump is still very popular. That approval rating that's in the mid to upper 30s is a nationwide approval, but in those southern and midwestern states, he's still popular.

Look at it this way. If you're a congressman in Mississippi or Oklahoma, and your district of 10,000 people is polling at 85 percent approval for Trump, are you going to distance yourself from him? It would be political suicide. You're going to embrace him all you can. The national polls that show his approval in the 30s doesn't mean squat to you, because they aren't the people casting a ballot in your reelection.

Republicans who aren't running for reelection (Romney) and the right-wing media never-Trumpers (Krauthammer, National Review) will actually speak plainly about him, but Republican politicians planning to have their names on ballots need and want the voters Trump brings to the table, and they're prepared to sell what's left of their souls to get those votes.

Also, hello all.
