General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsWhy would General Kelly stay now? After this?
After Don the Con has turned his back on everyone who has fought and died in WWII.
Would he stay out of a sense of duty to stabilize this country the best he can?
Is he really a far rightwinger himself and privately aligns himself with the Traitor-in-Chief?
Who is this guy and what's his angle?

(50,949 posts)"thin blue line" between Trump and disaster, but I don't know enough about Kelly to know if that is likely.

(13,340 posts)Don't get me wrong... I think Kelly is wrong on a LOT of issues. But I think he really, REALLY thinks Trump needs adult supervision to avoid getting a millions of people killed.

(28,136 posts)Because I know in his DHS stint he was very cruel.

(13,340 posts)... he is very conservative, but not insane.
Yes, he was cruel. But look at how he reacted to Trump yesterday. He clearly thinks the man is an asshole. But the fact he, McMaster and Mattis have their pact indicates to me they think he is dangerous.

(4,407 posts)He truly shares Trumps views. Absolutely no pass, he is in NO WAY putting his country first.

(13,340 posts)I think he is trying to keep Trump from starting a nuclear war.
I do not think he is a "good" guy per se.

(4,407 posts)How is he going to stop a war? At best you could add stupid to the list of Kelly's attributes.

(61,695 posts)This man has a dead son who served his country. Another son in the army. I believe he loves and will defend the US.
But I would never vote for him to represent me. He's too conservative for me. But I think he won't let trump destroy the US.

(18,837 posts)And believe me, it brings me great pain to suggest that a General is a "coward," but we don't know the man.
The third option is that he still believes he can rein Trump in, but after yesterday, what would be his basis for that?
Trump "went rogue" yesterday...that was NOT a scheduled kissfest for David Duke. "ALLEGEDLY" neither Kelly not anyone else in attendance knew that was going to happen.
Listen, in the majority of my posts on Monday, following the teleprompter speech, I said "LOOK at his facial expressions, he is PISSED OFF, he does NOT want to be saying ANY of this," and it's true. He didn't.
If Kelly had been a General in WWI, he would have been fighting the nazis. He'd be sending the military into the meat grinder in order to bring Hitler's regime down. I don't think anyone needs to pull him aside and say "Ummm...EXCUSE me, General, but this is WRONG."
His honor, his service, his legacy is on the line as he remains in this position. He will either allow Trump to be the person who define's his life's work, or he'll walk.
I am going to be very surprised if he walks.

(28,270 posts)is a fucking traitor that spits on the grave of all the American heroes that gave their lives to fight Hitler in WW2.
They are standing up for KKK terrorists and nazis.
Write each and everyone of them off as human beings period.
Trump made clear he stands with the Klan and neo-nazis last night, if they serve him..they serve them as well.
