Iceland Has Hired An Ex-Cop To Hunt Down The Bankers That Wrecked Its Economy (US?)

Maybe it's time to put up a clock from the time of the housing bubble bursting or Hank Paulson's blackmail demand of $700 billion until a CEO of one of the top banks that wrecked our economy and the WORLD'S is indicted, convicted, and imprisoned.

We don't even have to hunt them down. They're hiding in plain sight. Maybe the problem is some of our politicians might be jostled during the arrest raids or these guys might not have signed the campaign contribution checks before they are cuffed.

At the very least, these guys should be treated as a greater threat to America and the world than Bradley Manning.

If you were involved in Icelandic high finance in the runup to the recession, you might want to start watching your back.

That's because the government has appointed a white collar crime bounty hunter who wants to haul your behind in (alive, to be sure).

LeMonde reporter Charlotte Chabas has a profile of Ólafur Þór Hauksson, a former local police lieutenant whom the Iceland government appointed to track down individuals likely to have helped sink the country's banking sector during the credit crunch.

***

Hauksson oversees a posse of 100 researchers to help track down outlaws. He's netted some major convictions since starting in 2009, including the former chief of staff of the country's finance minister on insider trading charges. Many others await their day in court, Chabas writes.

they wouldn't so brazenly open their fucking mouths, because they'd know they weren't protected. Where do you think their arrogance comes from? Why do you think the rich in this country feel they can outright lie to millions of Americans while at the same time blaming them for the country's demise? Because they aren't hunted down or at least held responsible.

it lead to more freedom and democracy in a couple of countries so far.

The banksters may not have broken the laws that they wrote themselves, but did far more harm than any terrorists.

if they offered dead or alive on crooked banksters I would sell my motorcycles & invest in
some super heavy duty toys, like a tri-axial dump truck.

When they start dropping from TB or anything I will be laffing so hard it defies words.

loan. They believe in the rule of law. In making the perps pay for the crimes they committed, unlike the rest of Europe, which is forcing the people through their criminal Austerity 'programs' to pay for the gambling debts of those who destroyed the world's economy.

No wonder we rarely hear much about Iceland's success. They've already arrested and charged some of the bankers and politicians. Good for them, and I hope they confiscate all the money the criminals made so wrongfully.

For bank crimes committed in 2008. Justice is moving very slowly here and will probably not reach in time.

Where's Dexter when you need him?
