Nearly 30K sign petition seeking to expel UNR student who attended Charlottesville rally

A petition on Change.org is asking the president of the University of Nevada, Reno to expel and terminate the student who attended Friday's white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia.

UNR President Marc Johnson said at a press conference on Monday the university had no legal or constitutional standing to expel Peter Cvjetanovic, who became the subject of a viral photo taken at the rally on the University of Virginia campus.

The petition acknowledges Johnson's statement, but said he should still expel Cvjetanovic "for moral reasons based on your school's code of conduct."

The petition's goal is to reach 35,000 signatures. It was created on Sunday and has gathered more than 29,000 signatures as of Tuesday night.

pointed at and jeered. He will withdraw for a time, until the public outrage dies down, or will transfer after a semester out of school.

This nonsense of ruining people because they exercise their First Amendment rights -- no matter how repugnant -- is anti-American.

Let him live his life in scorn and infamy.
