While I'd like to believe the self-preservation instincts of the typical repuke chucklehead Congress critter... they also know that David Duke was absolutely correct. If they look in the mirror, they KNOW who put the vast majority of them into office. If the die-hard Trump voters stay home, not to mention the evangelicals who think that Trump was ordained by God to be President, if they stay home in 2018... the repukes lose everything (Senate, House, and the President, even President Pence, is neutered).

The calculation will be... if we bomb North Korea, the press, and the country will forget Charlottesville. Trump's poll numbers will rise a bit (back to 40) and they survive the midterms... just barely.

That the Dems have been unsuccessful at winning the high profile special elections will sway them to this conclusion.

So the "emergency meeting on south Asia (read Guam)" is correct. They will "wag the dog" over threats to Guam.

If I'm right about what I posted in my OP - this will be the most important meeting that they can hold given the dire circumstances for their Party.

Trump has demonstrated time after time that he's most confident when he's in familiar surroundings (and, coincidentally, when he's pocketing a nice chunk of change at one of his resorts). Trump went to Camp David once in June, but not since then. Security against leaks is an added benefit, but if Trump comes out of the meeting breathing fire and threats, the effort to leakproof the meeting will be for naught.

Anything out of the ordinary right now warrants special attention.

My worry is that Friday's meeting is about how to start a war or cause some domestic Reichstag Fire type of event to rehabilitate his image.

It's a little hard to interpret this, though. It's out of context, and we don't actually know who is going to be in attendance at Camp David yet, I think.

Clearly the Trump Administration is in crisis, though, right now. Nothing but bad news for Trump. A resignation is an out for him, particularly if Pence promises a pardon, which he will, I'm sure. Trump is done, really, as an effective President. He clearly cannot handle the job in any way.

So, you may well be correct. I hope so. We need something dramatic to change the course of things, I think. Maybe this will be it.

going to a meeting being held at Camp David. Right now - the only two people that we can probably be sure that will be at this meeting is Trump and Pence. My OP was my take on why the meeting now and why Camp David. It will be important to watch or learn who else will be present at this meeting. If it will be Repug Party bosses - then maybe my thoughts expressed in my OP will be borne out. If it it the Generals that surround Trump and his SOS and SOD - then others that posted here that they are going to 'wag the dog' and beat the war drums - will probably be right.

At any rate - this will be an important meeting. Look through the recent threads of this morning for confirmation of Pence cutting his trip short and a meeting being schedule for Camp David.
