BY MIKE LILLIS - 08/18/17 02:43 PM EDT
... "Steve Bannon's firing is welcome news, but it doesn't disguise where President Trump himself stands on white supremacists and the bigoted beliefs they advance," Pelosi said in a statement.
"President Trump's growing record of repulsive statements is matched by his repulsive policies," she added. "Personnel changes are worthless so long as President Trump continues to advance policies that disgrace our cherished American values" ...

(9,865 posts)Not how-to plans.
They will never get the House or the Senate unless they address vote suppression, gerrymandering and all the rest of it. GOTV is often weak in the face of this kind of obstruction.
Should have been raising a stick about it 20 years ago.

(27,817 posts)There have been a lot of efforts, there are court cases all over the country re gerrymandering (which is a state by state issue, not a federal one, other than the Voting Rights Act reversal by a Bush-dominated SCOTUS).
We're winning the court cases, but it's like playing whack-a-mole to go after them one at a time. And, a game-changing one will come up soon.

That's not in the job description of minority leader of the Democratic Caucus.
I believe that the truckload of money that she raised, however, might do some good in the elections.

(35,454 posts)45 was raised by a racist KKK father. The old apple doesn't fall far from the tree applies here.
His father, as has been reported, was arrested in KKK brawl in the twenties.
But an investigation by The New York Times drawing on decades-old files from the New York City Commission on Human Rights, internal Justice Department records, court documents and interviews with tenants, civil rights activists and prosecutors uncovered a long history of racial bias at his familys properties, in New York and beyond.

The Justice Department sued Donald Trump, his father, Fred, and Trump Management in order to obtain a settlement in which Trump and his father would promise not to discriminate. The case eventually was settled two years later after Trump tried to countersue the Justice Department for $100 million for making false statements. Those allegations were dismissed by the court.

Trump has done so much damage to "normal" government operations that much of the government may have been infected with vermin. I feel so bad for the career people who really do care!

(3,282 posts)He's taking meetings with the Mercers.
So, former head of Breitbart has now held a government position. I can think of no more legitimizing move for a right-wing quagmire of conspiracy theories like the flaming dumpster of Breitbart. And now he's got this powerful and legitimized bullhorn that has been waging it's shitty little war against "Globalists," which is their code word for Jewish people, in the deep deep pockets of the wealthy Mercer family.
Pelosi's right, this ouster means less than nothing. In fact, Trump has just received a new propaganda arm, since Fox is starting to shy away from his too-overt racism.

My guess is that Tucker Carlson moves over to Breitbart sometime soon.

(430 posts)Why do I feel as though I'm sitting in a theater watching every movie that had as it chief villain a crazy man who wanted to destroy the world - gets cornered and tries to push the button?
How MANY movies like that have ever been made and we thought it was all fiction? The names must be legion!
We're living in a SciFi reality movie!
Stay tuned for the ending!
