Rs Would Lose Every Election If They Told The Racists That They Don't Want Their Votes

I've heard a number of Rs saying that tRump needs to come out and tell the racists that he does not want their votes, and that they are not welcome in the R Party.

But those racists provide the margins in many states where Rs win close elections over Ds. The swing states would go solidly D if the racists didn't bother voting. Hillary would have won in an electoral landslide if the Rs had told the racists that they didn't want their votes.

I don't see how the Rs could ever toss off the racists. Unless they are willing to lose most of their power for the next 30 years while they try to rebuild their Party into something normal, there's no reason for them to oust the racists. Not to mention that the Rs are going to be behind the demographic eight ball within a decade, as non-whites become the majority of the electorate.

What all this makes clear is that Rs know all this, and that their current strategy is basically a last hurrah effort to rewrite laws while they have absolute majorities across the government with the aim of sustaining their power for as long as possible until they are overwhelmed by the inevitable.
