How would a Kamala Harris/John Bel Edwards-D ticket perform nationally and in Southern States like TX,GA,and NC?
Could this ticket energize and unite the Democratic base?
Kamala Harris/John Bel Edwards-D ticket can turn FL,GA,and NC into blue states.

(6,137 posts)Kamala has long been called female Obama. She could repeat the history of a junior senator winning presidency. She is tough as nails, speaks boldly and cut BS right away.

Regarding Edwards position on abortion and guns. He needs to say Roe v Wade is settled law and should not be overturn and will support a background check on gun buyers.

(8,617 posts)while he is pro gun, he supports criminal background checks?
Control-Z
(15,682 posts)he would have to say so, loud and clear, with no exceptions. That would make him pro choice.
If he supports criminal background checks and other gun safety measures I'd have to hear him preach it, and would need to look at his voting record and NRA score.

(3,813 posts)Louisiana is a right wing haven. He benefited from a GOP that was divided into Jindal and Vitter factions that were at each other's throats. That will not happen again. Attorney General Jeff Landry is already running, and he's saying all the right things about guns, Jesus, and gays that will get him elected. I don't take any pleasure in saying this, but JBE as VP nominee would not even bring his own state into the Democratic fold.

(54,387 posts)As for our presidential candidate, I think we are insane to waste energy on that now. The Senate and the House will be tough fights next year no matter how horrible Trump is. While Democratic candidates are begging for $25 contributions nationwide, the Kochs will give the Republicans half a billion again, and so will Adelson and Mercer. We can't match the money, so we need a better message, and "we are too concerned with the 2020 primaries to worry about Congress in 2018" had better NOT be it.
