Identity politics is the GOP electoral strategy
It seems the centrist press is increasingly discussing "identity politics", but not framing it as the GOP electoral strategy.
Race identity politics and hatemongering has been part and parcel of the GOP since Nixon.
LGBT identity politics and hatemongering has been the GOP strategy for now about two decades.
The GOP tarred Kerry as a "liberal elite" and Obama as a "sushi-eater" even beyond the racist comments. That's pure identity politics. The GOP strategy is to turn Americans against liberals based on culture and identity.
The GOP has been a coalition between money from billionaire donors and votes via identity politics. That's been going on for 40 years.
Is it me, or do others see conservatives saying that Democrats have a problem with identity politics? I don't fully understand the argument, but it seems to be that Democrats have alienated people via acceptance and tolerance of gays and transgender bathroom use. And that's made it hard to win elections.
If that's the argument, it's stupid and moronic. And further, it seems like a coordinated effort to deflect blame about cultural tensions away from the GOP.
