I know this may sound like heresy but I think we should be cautious about the removal of trump.

He is not only his own worst enemy, his slimey coattails are dragging the Republican Party into the sewer with him. All the tepid responses by republican leaders on neo nazis and the KKK will make for great campaign commercials.

One of my States republicans, Wisconsin's Paul Ryan, can't find it in his moral closet to say nazis are a bad thing. This makes sense for him though because he is an Ayn Rand devotee. Which is nothing more really than another form of purified speciesism. Ron Johnson, one of our state senators, is even more endeared with trump. Of course he is considered by his contemporaries to be the most ignorant senator of all. I guess that's an accomplishment of note.

Every time trump opens his mouth or goes on twitter he knocks off a few more supporters. He is an embarrassment of historical note and those who fail to detach will find they are, like the fabled bird around the sailors neck, having trump be their albatross.

Granted he still has his finger on the nuke button but I have a hunch that the saner minds who actually have to carry out the order may be less than obedient. Having General Kelly in the room makes nuking anybody less likely to the point of vanishingly faint.

And finally, you have to admit, anticipating his next baffoonish statement, tweet or threat has become an unanticipated form of entertainment. Face it, he has , despite his bluster and porcine demeanor, lying and ignorance of facts, denial of self evident truths, accomplished precisely nothing. He is under intense scrutiny by Mueller and is likely to be held criminally liable for his actions. This in itself will be vastly entertaining and I don't want him slipping off before we have him in the dock, exposed in all his inglorious evil.

After this is all over we will come out of it a much better nation.

That doesn't mean they won't work on a deal to get him to declare victory and resign.

Which I fully understand the sentiment behind it. One thing is that even though cooler heads may prevent him from nuking Canada, he is riling up the crazies in the streets (and internet) with the stuff he says/encourages. Although, if he was thrown out then that might galvanize them even more and it would make Trump even less accountable and controllable. Ugh. I don't even want to think about this. It's depressing and anxiety causing.

Between all the upcoming revelations from that and trumps continued abhorant nature, 2018 has the potential to be brutal.

Day or night, 24/7/365 until he is out of office.

I for one don't want to wait around and see if Twitler starts the end of the world.

Don't kid yourself that the military won't carry out the order either. I assure you they will.

A few might refuse and go to military prison immediately but others will carry it out in their place.

On the one hand, if tRump remains president, overall, the GOP will continue to slowly be demeaned and fractured in the public's and international community's eye, and right-wing legislation will be harder to pass. However, they will continue their hideous destruction of the regulatory system that protects our citizens because tRump provides the ultimate distraction.

On the other hand, a Pence presidency would take us back to GOP business as usual and all GOP politicians and supporters would gather behind him. The GOP's dreams will be fulfilled and the international community will be at ease.

Either result is not good for progressive values, IMO.

other republicans will be glad he is gone.

Both parts will probably be frustrated and less likely to vote. I know we want everyone to vote. But, this is my theory.

finds that this job is hurting his brand and his finances too much. The Trump brand is circling the drain and I don't see a lot of hope that it will bounce back soon. Also, there is always the chance that his physical or mental health will take him out. He could have a stroke, heart attack or a complete nervous breakdown that would incapacitate him. He would still be in office, but he will be impotent.

He certainly needs to be removed but then so does Pence.

I don't want Pence as president because he will be a horrible one as well.

I won't see him as a relief from the madness anyway. Just another kind of madness with a lot of the same goals and thinking. I can see the hand of Pence in certain Trump cabinet picks.

As for coming out of this a much better nation, we'll see.

As for what Mueller will actually accomplish toward that goal, we'll see.

I have hopes, sure...but, we'll see.
