Next month he will pose in front of a banner reading "Mission Accomplished", but it will be up to the next Dem president to get us out of Afghanistan. Then the rethugs will blame all the deaths from the war on that Dem president and say that he/she did not get us out soon enough. Simultaneously, they will blame the Dem president for not sticking around long enough to accomplish everything that needed to be accomplished.

the bottom line is that more fine young men and women are going to die needlessly in order to give him a "win" he can brag about to his collection of slack-jawed Deplorables.

Pulled in many directions and I don't trust him with geopolitics. I think he's prone to oil the wheel that squeaks the loudest. The neocon globalist have their eye on pipeline routes an others on mineral wealth. Some pure nationalists and libertarians would rather we be out of everything. The military see it as a strategic area, controlling access between many complex areas. After years of study and review, I think we and Russia have ruined a beautiful peaceful country. Prior to the invasions, travelers all say the people are some of the most friendly and giving people on earth.

BTW, love your reflections on Molly. I really miss her wit and wisdom.

After all, he's not likely to order the use of nuclear weapons in Afghanistan. (Compare North Korea)

Germans, Brits, among others?

I wonder if they've even been consulted, let alone approved whatever drivel this is bound to be.
