(82,849 posts)For those keeping score at home, if you have a group of 11 random Americans, one of them is (statistically speaking) a Nazi.

(32,641 posts)It's never been taught to our kids what happened in Germany and the rest of Europe in the 1930's. A lot of turmoil led to Hitler coming to power, and it almost went the other way. That's right, Germany almost went communist instead of national socialism. (Nazi's) That's why the "good" Germans voted for Hitler, to keep the communists out. But look what happened and we ended up with a World War and the Holocaust.
Our kids are not taught any of this, and if any US teacher were to mention it in school they'd be fired on the spot.
I graduated high school in the 1960's and it was never mentioned even then. I used to think it was because of the Vietnam conflict, but now I know better. It's been 3 generations of kids that have not been taught about the conflicts that led to World War 2. Is this fucked up or what?

(544 posts)There is a difference.
One group of Nazis literally committed Genocide murdering tens of millions of people and tried to conquer all of Europe.
The other likes to buy tiki torches and march around while incensing the general population with tweets and idiotic rhetoric.
Both are Deplorable... but there is a YUGE difference.
