Is this a credible source? Bombshell - Look Who Bribed the FBI to Investigate Hillarys Email

During the Election.

http://www.learnprogress.org/bribed-fbi-investigate-hillary/?utm_medium=push&utm_source=onesignal&utm_campaign=onesignal
<snip>
One of the main FBI agents who made a fuss about Hillary Clinton’s emails has been discovered to have been on Michael Flynn’s payroll at the time. This is DIRECT evidence that Flynn was responsible for trumping up the fake “Clinton emails” scandal in the days before the election.

So here’s what we know so far. Just days before the election, a conservative “whistleblower” in the FBI alleged that Patrick Kennedy, a top Obama official, had offered perks to the FBI in exchange for having some of Hillary Clinton’s emails de-classified.

The conservative angle here is clear. To them, Kennedy was trying to cover up Clinton’s “email scandal” by offering a bribe.

Too bad the whistleblower in question, Brian McCauley, admitted that the whole story was manufactured garbage. He said as much to the New York Times when he revealed his identity and the truth.

So there you have McCauley openly admitting that he put out a fake story to the American people. But in a REAL horrifying twist, breaking reports indicate that McCauley was also on disgraced former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn’s payroll when he spread his fake anti-Clinton narrative.

No date on the piece linked. Way too much bombast in the headlines on other articles at home page. Has an embedded ad getting past my blocker and an "allow notifications" popup.

I avoid bombshells like they were actual bombs these days. YMMV.

The referral code at the end of the NYT URL in the OP -- from late October last year -- has "theproudliberal.org" sourced, which seems like the same kind of confirmation-biased website that "learn progress.org" is. These two sites are exchanging links and traffic to build up their hits for lowbrow advertising.

Here's the NYT link, with the referral source code at the end stripped out. Read it -- particularly the correction at the very end -- and compare to the opinion piece from Learn Progress.

My humble O is that there is some lingering smoke but no actual fire here.

But nothing in the excerpt seems to indicate that he gave "the FBI" anything. I took one look at the website and refused to read it, so all I'm going off is the excerpt. I suspect this is loosely grounded in truth with some made up stuff to attract clicks.
