Trump ally reportedly says: 'He's an asshole, but he's our asshole'

My God, they hate him but continue to support him. Party over country.

With friends like this ...

Duncan Hunter of California was one of Donald Trump’s first backers on Capitol Hill, long before it became fashionable. But like other Republicans, there are signs of buyer’s remorse.

“He’s just like he is on TV,” the congressman reportedly told colleagues on Friday. “He’s an asshole, but he’s our asshole.”

The comment was reported by the San Diego Union-Tribune, which said it was recounted by four people present when Hunter spoke at a Riverside County Young Republicans meeting at a sports bar in Murrieta, California.

2. He's the GOP's family bigot

That's saying something amongst a party full of them, but there it is.

It's like the family with the racist uncle, sister, brother, or in-law. They aren't completely shunned or disowned, and manage to make things more tense at the family gatherings, but there they are.

And when that's the attitude right now, after all that's taken place, it's going to take much more than a sense of patriotic duty, morals or shame to motivate these enablers to impeach. There will have to be a direct threat to their personal re-election chances or threat of implication if they're involved or associated.

The democratic party would have shunned anyone like him long ago. Only the gop would welcome a blowhard fake human being like tRump into their party. They are not supposed to share their true thoughts about him, though. Didn't Ryan say "Keep it in "the family""?? Just like a mafia family. Ryan was talking about the Russian money at the time, but it applies to their orange clown in charge. The longer he is allowed to shoot off his mouth, he will say something shameful, so the gop has a long road ahead of them, protecting THEIR asshole. tRump is the biggest asshole in a party of them.

8. What kind of person could actually like this self-absorbed piece of shit?

That's the question that plagues me -- Trump is asshole-you-see-asshole-you-get, it's enraging, but not shocking, it was there for all to see.

I've never thought Trump was anything other than a bullshitting fake, fraud and phony. He transparently lies with practically each breath. All the self-congratulation is enough to make any sane person want to barf out their soul.

But how -- HOW???-- does one person (let alone millions) come to see this mess as a good thing? Is it the tough-talking daddy thing? Is it the WWF-style trash-talking on the world stage? Is that some new goal, for the U.S.A. to be the world's major asshole?

A recent Gallup Poll showed Trump's approval rating *among Republicans* is 79%. So more than 3 of 4 Republicans go for this rampaging bull that carries his own china shop around with him. All the nepotism, all the Russian collusion, all the
cascade of staff turnovers, all the conflicts of interest -- none of it matters to 79% of Republicans. In fact, they exist in another universe altogether, where daily chaos is just...normal.

If there's any writing on the wall, it reads "dark times ahead." Wish I could be more optimistic, but it feels forced right now.

and voters should be reminded of it. Hunter's district should be more competitive now to challenge his seat.
