It's a.real danger, and her heels don't have to be 5" for it to happen.

My grandmother had to have heels on whenever her feet hit the ground because of it, because it was so painful (this, from a person who lived with bone cancer for years, without painkillers).

She was far from glamorous, and never wore heels higher than 2" (thick blocky) heels. So -that was my first, serious thought when I saw those heels this morning.

definitely cause shrinkage of tendons, making it very painful to wear flat shoes. It's a risk. I've always hated high heels. They are deforming devices, almost as bad as foot-binding. All to make calves taut and "sexy." Feh!

She was all of 5'1" tall and wore those wooden high heels (c. 1970) everywhere. However, on the weekends and otherwise, she had to wear them around the house because of the pain and the deformity caused from wearing those "lady shoes" as she called them.

They always seem to wear those shoes that nobody really wears outside of a nightclub anymore. There was a picture of Ivanka at "work" in the white House in 5 inchers. Neither one of them are ever out of those spikes. Earth to Trump women - The '80's are over!

If it were actually true, there'd be nothing funny about it. If it isn't, I'm not sure what the point of making fun of one of the least political first ladies we've had in a while.

I'm sure she has worn the high high heels her entire life.

It is sad what those damned high heels can do to you and I agree it is not funny!

Society makes women feel like they aren't "real women" if they don't wear those heels (aka "lady shoes" ).

I never could wear them (now I know why) but society pushes them & it can make a woman feel less than sadly, that is what I think.

her heels weren't that high - maybe 2 inches.

Poor Melania has to go around looking stupid all the time.
